All 1968 models with the exception of the Earles Court show pre-production model were red tank and tail section with silver oil tank and side cover. These models also had the plastic badges. The frames had the sheetmetal headstock gusset and most were replaced by the end of the '68 model run. In 1969 the colors were red with black oil tank and side cover and later a British Racing Green option and a silver flake with candy red panels. Both the latter are pretty rare as most were red with black. These models lost the badges (no pun intended as the early model was prone to them falling off) and used the traditional Norton decal. Some time late in the year and through the 1970 model year the headlight ears and fork shrouds were chromed.

I could not touch the metalic fibre glass finish when I rebuilt the bike as it only had a few scratchs and marks and you can never realy get that finish in paint. The date stamp is 12/1969 which I think means it was a 1970 release as it has the chrome ears and other chrome bits. Click on my profile and have a look at my posts I think there is a picture of my bike there. Have not posted pictures for a few years and they are on the other computor I do not use now.

Has a roadtest with nemerous largeish pictures of a SILVER production FASTBACK , which would be fairly usefull for checking production spec .
other than that its on newsprint type paper . Dobt if their main office would have kept the negatives in their archives . Might be worth tracing the Photographer ,
if one was desperate or loaded . good Quality portrait type pictures .
No doubt theres one or two other Green Ones about out there , unrestored .
As the Paternal yacht Manufacturing concerns prefered colour was a Dark British Racing Green for the Keel Boats , a study of GREEN ( colour ) was a early disipline .
Commando is about 5 down from light in the 7 std. dulux B. R. g. of the period . the Yachts were a Darker Jade .

rs but I've seen that one somewhere.
Regarding green, I took my last Roadster tank to a painter in Sydney (circa 93). He was regarded as the best but I can't unfortunately remember his name. I wanted the tank painted BRG. I know, there never was such in a Roadster but that's
what I wanted. He told me Norton's idea of BRG was in fact BMC green. BRG is a very very dark green, as seen on some MG's
you see about. He showed me a colour catalogue identifying the two different greens and sure enough his description was right.
I think he'd had trouble with other Norton owners jumping up and down, I want BRG, I want BRG!! So thought he'd put me
straight before furthering the discussion. Might be worth a whole new forum for this one?
