There were a few yellow fastbacks about in the day, but when restoring them it seems everyone prefers BRG, with the odd red one!

Phil, that is actually an 850 MkIII with some Fastback parts on it......maybe someone saw you coming

Life was simpler then.....

Paid under £400 for a 3 year old bike, rode it, got married, went on honeymoon on it, raced it, put it back on the road and sold it for over £400.....

To fund my racing on the Rickman I had just built.....

I was pretty happy with it all....

Still got the wife, got the Rickman frame back....what next....

Would prefer either to a Japanese wonder car . With the 3500 dropped in . A HC V8 going for 1500 in NZ , they used to throw in cresta diffs & holden 6s , but the V8 fits better . magnum front end . :D  8) :P

Holden made a grey, red, blue and black engine.
They NEVER produced a BRG engine.
You are off topic and this thread will go into lock down!!
Stand Back!!!

But never a BRG engine.

You are off colour and off topic Matt.
I will be dobbing you in to Les in the morning.

And the Norton next to it has the wrong switch gear for a MkIII
There are no flies on me!
You can just see where they've been.

Paid under 400, thrashed it and sold it for over 400?
I'm impressed. I think you saw someone coming.
BTW, where is the pound symbol on my computer??

BRG Combat Fastback of 72.
The guy next to it is/was a thug.
His mate Tony spent a fortune buying bikes to catch the Combat.
He finally just managed, with this Kwaka 900.
But ONLY in a straight line. Never got near him on the twists!!
Forty plus years on, Tony and I are back in touch.
He sent me a photo. Same Tony, but has dyed his hair all grey!

The photo was taken from the famous Bilgola Headland Hairpin.
A year earlier I chased and caught a guy on a trail bike heading north and flying on this piece of road known as The Serpentine.
I was on my BRG Dominator, and went round him on this corner, on the wrong side of the road.
A week or so later I saw him ahead, going south so the chase was on again. In the middle of this blind corner, with everything
scrapping and as hard as I could go I found bike and him splattered on the road. I had to throw down the Dominator to miss him (though tempted to ride over him).

The fence in the photo saved me from going over the cliff. I was dressed in T shirt, board shorts and Crosby slip ons.
I don't do this sort of thing anymore Hobot!
And nowadays wear Dunlop Volleys.

Sorry Les, just background info. And the Dominator was BRG.

Richly noted, or rightly noted?

I should have just asked, what is the intention of your post,
Honourable or dishonourable?
You will not be going out with my mother.
Not in a Rover or a Vauxhall!!

Richly, in honor of your richly appointed post.

I always try to be honorable (Yank spelling, is not about U), and Troll not. Unless am fishing...

You will be richly rewarded.
And rightly so.

I have just bought an original tail fairing in BRG. this has been kept in a garage for 40 years and has never been used on a bike (so they say...). The plan is to get it home, go to my local paint expert and have the right BRG formulated. I should be able to tell you how to make an original BRG - but you'll have to wait for a few weeks, the tail is first going to london and then I'll have it shipped to Italy during the summer... so bear with me!

Orso

Orso

The colour has probably deteriorated Orso.
It is probably now Forest green. :)

Interestingly, my original 72 BRG tail fairing started to go opaque and change colour, like there was a disease under the gel coat, after only a few months from new. It was a pigment issue of some sort and Norton of course replaced it. Never happened again.

thought that yacht looked like Whispers II. I remember colliding with it one day in wellington harbor after a huge squall hit us. Nothing to do with Nortons, but I still owned my 750 then.

Keelhaul the Landlubber . Hang'em from the Yardarm . :P

For what it's worth.....

Way back racing cars would be painted in so called "national" colours, green = England; blue = France; red = Italy, and so on. Each manufacturer used their own version of their national colour. Even when Ferrari, Maserati and Alfa Romeo ran works F1 teams, if the three makes were parked side by side it was possible to identify each car because the cars were different shades of "red".
The mythical British Racing Green is a marketing exercise by people who want to give their product a bit of pizzazz. Looking at racing cars, again each manufacturer used their own version of BRG. Aston Martin, pale metallic green; Jaguar, very dark metallic green; BRM very, very dark metallic green; Lotus, mid green, not metallic. And so on.
What it amounts to is that there is no "standard" for BRG. So if it's green, it could be called British Racing Green, I've even seen black described as BRG. A bit like the Monty Python sketch " even the white bits were black".

There is no thing as a standard mix for British Racing Green

cheers
wakeup

ps For my money the best looking Commando EVER is a 69 Forest green Fastback, beautiful, classy.
