Take some new pics when you meet. ?
i love that shade of Fireflake Emerald Green.
And that is one colour you almost never see in any of the Norton books.
Fills a gap in the list of colours Nortons used too...

BTW, HD last year came out with a range of what they called Hard Candy Colors.
To my untrained eye, it looked like Fireflake Green, Bronze and Silver...

Do you want a picture of the pie?
Or the coffee?
Yes it is a very pretty green and if Ian is happy (assuming he even wants to meet me)
can get more photos for you. I've never seen that colour listed by Norton, but never
looked for it either.

Phil

If they've got fireflake green coffee, we'd like to see a pic of that...

You haven't been paying attention.

That BRG at bottom looks like the real BRG.
i.e. Morris Garages BRG.

I meant a picture of the pie, or the coffee,
balanced precariously on the seat.

No word from Ian (might be pissed and playing two up at the RSL)
but photos will abound if we hoof into a pie or two at Robertson.
Swilled down with coffee and a pewk in the dunny before splitting
the scene.

One of the sports car forums mentioned a while back that there are about 5000 shades of BRG recorded. !
They range all over the green spectrum when viewed.
So don't assume too much. ?

The BRG on that colour card looks rather dark, other ones show it as a more green version of green.

As far as I knew, Norton BRG was BRG. Only the painter enlightened me to misconceptions and in fact a different
name, BMC, associated I presume with the car group. Call it what you will, there was only one Norton BRG, reserved
exclusively for the legendary Fastback. No other style Commando was ever allowed to carry the famous colour. Though
totally taken by the radically unconventional Fastback styling, I was a traditionalist and BRG was my colour. My current
red Fastback is the only non green Norton I have ever owned, Dominator included.

Phil the only problem with the pie shop is I would be on a BM as the Norton is unregistered at the moment due to retirement. You would have to come to Dapto to see it in the flesh. Have two bikes registered plus three other rego,s and only one is free with the RTA. Too many toys.

That's okay Ian
I'll drop down sometime for a cuppa. I may be at Albion Park next weekend (Sunday) at the air show. I don't want to go, they bore me fartless but Jenny has never been to one. You might be around then if there is time free. I'll PM you through the week.

You must live in Sherwood Forest.

And this girl you will get your hands on? Perhaps Madam Marianne?
What an interesting life you lead :)

'Norton Commando' p.41 Mick Duckworth describes the early production model: ".....The standard overall livery was now Forest Green (often described as British Racing Green) for the fuel tank and seat tail with silver side panels and a black seat cover."

I love hearing something about Commandos I didn't already know (or remember). Even a dumbo like me retains a relatively small amount of information given forty years to gather and retain it. I didn't know BRG was ever referred to as Forrest green, or the other way around. Or if I did, I don't remember. I haven't seen that book Les, I am going to order it. All I know or was told is that the real BRG by name, is almost black.

I have listed myself to go on a quiz show, special topic "History Of The Norton Commando Between 1972 and 1972".
But every time I phone, they say call back in 25 years.
Must be a very long queue.

Priorities Tom:
Lady Marianne.
Sherwood Forest Green Commando.
Work.

Start dumping from bottom up. Top two listing are reversible, sometimes highly recommended.

Les
I just had a quick look. That book new is nearly US$500!!!.
What happened to "knowledge is wealth"??
I can see how it applies to Mick Duckworth. But buying his knowledge will send you friggin broke!!

I'll buy it for Jenny, as a Christmas present.

Micks book must be out of print for them to quote that sort of price.

Check in local bookstores, its probably still sitting on the shelf somewhere at the original price.
Which was only a mere fraction of that...

Just for reference, this is Forest Green as printed in the 1960 Norton Brochure.

As anyone who has seen it will say, its a bit lighter than BRG as on the Commando's.
Printing on the brochure is a bit wishy washy, so use at your own peril....

If you google British Racing Green, most examples are decidedly green looking...

https://www.google.com.au/search?q=brit ... d=0CDQQsAQ

In 1993, when told about BMC green, I had no computer. And I've never looked at the matter since. But yes, there are more versions of BRG on that site than there are Norton Commando varieties themselves.

Must be a British thing. Make five variations of the same thing by name.
I hope Baxter's in Iowa know what I am talking about re BRG.
I don't want the thing arriving over here looking like something
Robin Hood would ride.
