Seamed Muted Pea Shooters on a 1974 850

I had a set redone years ago. Took them to a shop that dipped car bodies, etc. They were stripped clean of any carbon inside, the the plater plugged the inlet and outlets. Came out fine. I have to look at mine, it's been a while, but they're fixable. I remember having a hard time getting them off the pipes and did some damage, but they aren't rusty.
I might be interested if you would part with them, photos?

I have a set of seamed muted pea shooters on a 1974 850 are they original? The seams/welds are around the exit cone attachment area. Is there a supply for correct replacements? If correct, I want the mutes as the bike will be as original as possible.

Curious about these Jimbo, other than the end mutes, are they straight through or restricted baffling inside?

the ones with the welds exposed on the cone welds are straight through, the one I have that have those welds smooth is not

The peashooter variations seem to be endless. I had two that were both straight through but each had a distinctive sound. They both had three rows of louvres facing into the exhaust, but in one they were rifled (in a spiral configuration.)

Well there could be consensus of two bikes with seamed muted mufflers, mine and this 7400 mile '74(with original black paint) for sale. However his has silver barrels, and mine black ,so what does that mean?

Weirdness.

Mark 2 seat, Mark 2 chain guard, Mark 1 barrels.

Maybe someone rebuilt and and painted silver.

If original. Weirdness, but then again.
Norton in the 70’s.

Mark 2 chain guard,

The chain guard with the extension was actually introduced during late Mk1 after 307091.

From January '74 the Mk2/Mk2A 06-5818 chainguard had the cutout for the brake lining check hole.

so that bike is after 307091 and before mine with the lining check hole at 313000
if it has the original guard and brake plate, and I am guessing it does

I got some mufflers from a Norton dealer in the early '70s that were ridiculously quiet and killed performance even with leaner jetting. Looking down the muffler, it was not straight through. This was remedied with a large metal stake hammered in from the coned end.
I think hobot did something similar using a gun...

the muffs I have that have the welds and are straight through could have been punched out. No way for me to see in there, however the light I see looking through them has a nice round shape, so I guess I need to get a borescope.

Looks like it needs new rear brake shoes. (Almost run out of adjustment and the arm is nearly vertical.)
