Santander to Roscoff June 2010

My wife has a Norton Commando 850 Mk 111, my bike is a Norton Commando 750 '71 roadster. We are travelling on 13th June, over two weeks from the ferry at Santander to arrive at Roscoff. Our aim is to see and cross the Millau Viaduct and make our way back to the north coast in time for our ferry. We have not booked any campsites en route as we like to travel and stay where we like at the time, therefore no pressures in knocking out loads of miles if we come across anything we like. We have travelled a lot in France, both bikes and car, but not too much in the south. Does anyone out there have any recommendations for places to see, stay - or avoid?, particularly any camp sites on route. We will, of course, be taking a full complement of spare parts: a roll of tape and a piece of string. We will be posting pictures and progress reports while on-route. Regards Bob

In Laval, check out the Manoir de Rouessé http://www.manoirderouesse.com/manoir-d ... aval&id=36 very nice people and very nice rooms. A lot further south, l'Auberge La Plume D'Oie http://www.arachnis.asso.fr/DORDOGNE/vi ... index.html is also very nice, they will ask you to eat at their restaurant which is not cheap, but well worth the price. The breakfasts are also not cheap but outstanding. If these are on your route, check them out.

If you can take a few days at La Roque Gageac where La Plume D'Oie is located, you can take a canoe trip down the Dordogne and see the region from a different pespective. I have a few pictures atarting with this one http://www.pbase.com/jeandr/image/34685256 to give you an idea of the region.

Only tip for Milau, better to go in the old road through the Village so that you can see it, not much to see when your on it! As you approach Milau passing through theres a small bar / cafe on the left at the first roundabout, nice meals and the lady even cleaned our visors for us whilst we were having lunch the last time we were there! Maybe see you on the road, I'm heading back through France to Zeebrugge to get the ferry home after the rally

In Santander Hostal Paris a clean address
you can leave the coast from Santander to bilbao because to much industry, but
The coast from Bilbao to Bayonne is wonderful take time to visit each village
don't forget to take the brigde PUENTE DE VISCAYA at Portugalete (Bilbao) to cross the Nervion
In Bayonne you can take the old road crossing the Armagnac via Marciac to reach Toulouse

Otherway as said, Picos de Europa, Las Bardenas reales, Pamplona, Col du Somport, Pau, Toulouse
Otherway by the east Pamplona, Lerida, Perpignan, Millau.
