The republic referendum was put to the people without stating what the new model was nor how it would work. Essentially the pro-republicans were saying "trust us!" - like bloody hell!

The Kings Troop the Royal Horse Artillery used to be based near my work, seeing the horses being ridden and towing (?) the guns on their carriages was a frequent sight. Very impressive. Even more so when they were in their full uniform dress. (if thats the right word for it)Yes, it was very good shooting , they didn't hit anything as they were firing blanks!
