Replacing temperature sensor

I have a Bosch temperature sensor to replace the original. That and a number of the other Bosch recommended upgrades.

I have 2 questions on the temperature sensor though, I'm hoping one of the technical guru's can help me with. Probably daft question, but where we go!

The manual says to apply heat sink compound before installing the temperature sensor. Where do you apply this? I'm guessing the thread, but manual doesn't specify.
Is there a type of heat sink compound to apply? My Google searches come back with compounds use for computer CPUs, not nothing motorcycle related.

I hope CPU stuff is it, mine came from an electronics shop so probably the same stuff.
Glob it around the sensor, the bit that will sit in the recess beyond the threads, plenty but not so much that the hole is overfilled.
I believe the idea is to improve the heat transfer between the probe and the heat source.

Hi, im having problems with my 2015 Temperature sensor . when it get really hot tick over runs up as high as 2000 rpm and when cools down back to 1100 ish.
My issue is i cant find one to buy.!!! could you tell me where you bought yours? The factory is still shut. Regards Michael

I have just done a fuel mileage check with the Delta 400 ECU finally. I did my 70 mile loop with my usual kind of driving , shifting by 5000 rpm and cruising at 4500 rpm 75 mph , (70 mph actual) It was only 40.95 MPG , Idles great and goes very well especially 4000 RPM and higher !

I'm getting that intermittently when its hot. However, if I turn the ignition off and restart, it will correct on most occasions and tick over like a Swiss watch. Seriously doubt its cooling down in 5 seconds.
That said, I never did apply the paste to the sensor. Summer months are murder on this bike.
