Removing dr side roller race

Here's a pearl for some of you DIY guys like me. Getting that drive side race out of the case looks like a daunting job even with some fancy factory norton race puller . You don't need no puller. Figgered this one out myself. Get a die grinder with the little cutoff wheel attachment . Grind on something till the wheel will fit inside the race with about 3/8 clearance around.
Cut a groove on each side of the race 180 deg.apart from each other about 1/8 " from the inner edge of the race. Stick and old flat blade screwdriver or a small drift punch ground like a flat blade tip and alternately drive the grooves from the outside. Becareful to only use one lick per groove. Don't want to drive too much on either side. Throw the race away. No one will buy it like that :lol: .

Heat case in oven and drop it on a piece of wood. Usually you don't even have to do that - The race just falls out when the case is heated.

I'm married. Didn't want to buy another stove.

That sure is tough on the case. And it will be tougher going back in . Jim
