Hi guys, after looking at a lot of pics posted here with rebuilds and the like, what side if the frame cross bulkhead are the recifier and flasher units supposed to be positioned? Mine as you see in the pic are on the abck side, but I notice in some posted pics, some are mounted on the front side. If I did that my cap. would clash.
Pic not real good and aftermarket flasher unit won't fit in original clip, but the clip is still there.

Recitifier/Flasher Position

Both the rectifyer and flasher relay mount to the frame inthe area of your photo, the ariginal finned rectifyer bolts to the lat frame area and the flasher relay attaches via a wire coil

The rectifier and flasher relay mounted at the rear of the plate is probably correct for a non 'A' 850 model (there is a photo of this setup in Roy Bacon's 'Norton Twin Restoration' book). The 850 1A & 2A models had the underseat tool tray which occupied the space behind the plate and therefore required the rectifier and flasher relay to be repositioned.

Due to the increased length of the A model airbox the 1A/2A models also had a different battery tray which positioned the battery across the frame -so there was more space at the rear of the battery and the 2MC was also repositioned slightly I think.

thanks guys will leave it where it is as all fits well and plenty of room for the cap. on the other side close to the battery.
Regards Mike
