Rearsets

Keith — how effective is your rear brake with the cable and rear sets?

By the way, that seat really suits the Commando. I prefer it to the Corbin. Did you buy it or fabricate it yourself? The half-fairing also complements the classic cafe racer look. All in all, one of the best looking Commandos I've seen!

Dave, the ratio is about 4:1 and needs a bit more pressure but is as effective as the std setup, well seems to be to me! I use the front mostly which has the 13mm RGM conversion. Thanks for the comments. The seat is from Hemmings which I just happened to see there when I was picking up the fairing brkts and rearsets a couple of years ago. It's hardly a minimal cafe seat so is quite comfy. I think the maker (John Hobart)also produces for Old Britts and does a dual version as well. They don't have a website or phone no I can find though. If I carry a pillion I just use the std seat. Need to make some brkts to move the pillion pegs back as there's only room for passenger's toes and the other half is threatening to get on the back sooner or later.

Keith,
I think I have the drawings from the brackets I made a few years back. If you are interested I could send you a copy.

Ron, Thanks, I'd appreciate that. I had roughly figured out what to do but didn't get round to drawing anything up yet. PM me. ta.
Splatt, it's probably not as nice as it looks in the pics, not the highly polished just finished look if you know what I mean. But, it works well with the fairing and rearsets, my wrists excepted - have to keep speed up to take the weight off them so it's not nice in slow traffic!

Keith, polished or not ,it still looks like avery nice clean practicle cycle, how bad is the wieght on your wrists,I am trying to find some M bars so they wouldnt be so low.I think the white, blue &red looks clean and smart.

There's always a tradeoff, the practicality of a fairing which makes headwind riding a lot easier against below 50-60mph running which kills the wrists. It's not that there's so much weight on them more the angle they (wrists) sit at. Tried bars straight out but made little difference and since I don't tour 180 in a day is OK with a few hours off. There is a guy in the NOC, the treasurer I think, who tours on his Norvil. maybe I need to do some wrist exercises!! Not sure about 'M' bars. I think any position which throws your weight forward would be an issue.
In process of redoing the tank and side panel paint to match the fairing. Originally done in spray can acrylic with petrol proof lacquer which ended up real patchy and yellowed. You can't see it in the pics but it wasn't good. The fairing was painted in cellulose with clear which I was able to buy even though it's illegal to sell now.
