Hello good folks,

Does any of you know the outer length between shoulders of this spacer? I have had no luck finding it mentioned anywhere, nor do I have a sample available.

Thanks,

Knut

Hi Knut
The spacer NM18231 / 06.7701 would appear to be from a Commando rear wheel
and not from the AJS/Matchless rear wheel used in a P11, N15 or Ranger.

I think the AJS/Matchless spacer is 02.1586. This spacer is a tube with recesses in
each end to allow the centre of each taper bearing into the recess.

I can give you the measurements of 02.1586 as sadly I happen to have one on my
bench if that is the spacer you need dimensions of. I have been told it is original
from 1968.

Fitting the taper rolling bearings to a P11 rear hub is a nightmare. Unless you know
different

Hi Knut

Thanks for your offer.

The spacer in question was used in Norton rear wheel hubs up to 1970 (superseeded by spacer 062069 fitted from early 1970 through 74).
Norton rear hubs were used in all Matchless models including N15CS except G80CS and P11.

Since posting the call I have received information from various sources pertaining 06.7701 .

Overall length: 4-3/4"
Length of center section: 3-5/16"
Diameter of center section: 0.953"
Bore: 9/16"

Tubular ends of the spacer will have different lengths. However, lengths do not add up, so please use data with caution.

I hope this is of use to someone.

- Knut
