Rear Avon Roadrider Cracking

Never seen one that cracked that badly from sitting. My BSA A10 has an Avon Speedmaster from 2008 on it that has zero cracks in it anywhere. It's coming off before riding this year and getting replaced with a Roadrider. I've had Roadriders on my Norton since i wore out the Dunlops it came with and have had no issues with them at all.

I've not had an issue with Road Riders, but did have scalloping on a Super Venom front tyre. The handling improved rather significantly when I replaced it...

I’ve just replaced 2 rear tyres on the car at 20k miles and 4 years old because they’re cracking. I was also given an advisory that the 2 fronts are also cracking and need to be replaced - they are only 2 years old and 8k miles. The make is Continental and I’ve had issues with Conti Camper tyres on my motorhome in the past.

Over the past dozen years I’ve been running or participating in MH forums and we strongly recommend not to keep tyres on them over 7 years old. Generally they tend to stand around for weeks or months on end and tyres need to be worked, they should be brought up to temperature and not just parked up. The rubber in them needs to be flexed to stay supple.

All tyres these days must have a date of manufacture code on them. It will be a small rectangular box with a 4 digit number. The first 2 are the week and the second the year - eg 1620 would mean week 16 2020.

The cracks in the tread look like rock damage. This is what mine look like. It's sad because there are very few miles on this tire.
