Ha! Yeah. I wondered about that, too.

I have seen them in the flesh a few times. Norton made a number of prototype engines that did not reach production, but have since been sorted and built into bikes by dedicated Norton freaks. There are the remains of an across the frame OHC four somewhere.This stuff was rescued from skips by the real bike enthusiast workers that were laid off by the bean counters who finished the industry off.
