Hello, hoping someone would have some info on the swingarm linked below - lines up perfectly with the commando and curious if this could be some race relic someone has seen before or just a one off fab job with no markings .
cool regardless ..

appreciate it

apologize I can't embed the image as the site rejects it

10 to 15 years ago I tried to buy from Canada an alloy swinging arm & cradle. They were made in England & I can't for the life of me remember the gentleman's name. He used to race with British Historic Racing. I think he said he made 3 sets. Anyway he had emigrated to Canada with his wife to be near his son/family. Ludwig had posted up his superb lightweight Commando & I was galvanised into action.
Unfortunately currency laws wouldn't allow me to pay cash into a foreign bank account (NatWest) that belonged to someone else.
Never seen one since lol

I suppose the swingarm fits somewhere between "sprung weight" and "unsprung weight"
Interesting though. 👍

I remember reading that Dave Degans said the reason they went to box section back in the day was because tyres were getting wider and wider
Nothing to do with strength !
It's certainly true if you clamp a piece of box section in a vice and put a decent size wrench on the other end you'll be able to twist it
Try doing that with round tube ! So I really don't know
I understand this one is aluminium and should be lighter ?

Thanks for replies all - Yes aluminum - good point on measuring the width between rails to see if would accommodate wider tire.
