Missing Loop on MkII Swingarm

Hello All,

I've just picked up my frame and associated parts from the sandblaster, and I finally noticed some interesting weld marks on the swing arm. Looking at the parts diagram, there should be a 'loop' welded on this spot on the swing arm. Can anyone advise what that loop is for, and whether I should replace it?

On a related note, is the general consensus that the additional gussets on the inside corners are worth doing? Seems like a good time as any to have them welded in.

Yes , weld in triangular gussets.
Don't try to straighten up the swingarm itself beforehand.
They were intentionally fabricated up to be bent a bit. L.A.B. can you check on that please ?

I've had no need to fit them (because the Mk3 has a box-section cross-member) so I can't comment.

Same here.
Perhaps someone knows if the factory used a jig set up to weld up the earlier swingarms offset ?

The original (approx. 1/8" - 3/16") swingarm offset would need to be maintained when the gussets were welded in place.

When welding gussets onto a C15 swingarm I used all thread stud plus nuts and washers on the axle end to keep these at the same distance apart and negate any twisting during welding.

It's for the chain guard bolt.

That would make sense. No chain guard on the bike when I took ownership. Thank you!
