Getting ready to powder coat my 69/70 S frame. A few questions.
I notice on Oldbrits.com they seem to miss a few holes to cover up. Like the adjuster threads on the swing arm. Also, they don't even mention:
Rear brake drum
Rear brake housing
Head-steady, although I may be using the tie-rod end modification
Rear license plate (metal part)
I realize these parts may be optional to powder coat, but I thought I would do everything I could.
Is it OK to coat the rear drum and housing if I mask off where the chain goes over the cogs?
Should I mask off anywhere that bolts nuts and washers are going through the frame, or just the motor mount and gearbox points and areas that I want electrical ground? Is it OK to leave the powder coating where I use bolts nuts and washers for places like the top and bottom mounting holes for the shocks?
I am going to have the frame and parts stripped before masking, so will they have to strip it again for degreasing before coating?
Should I get the masking from the shop that is doing the coating? All I have seen so far is the mylar tape. I guess I really need to talk to she shop before starting.
That's enough for now, I will have many more questions later. I got new rims and S/S spokes to rebuild the wheels and new fork tubes so far.
