Not calling out the Aussies and their lessor brethren the Kiwis = racist.

Thanks Dave M. I have always considered this forum the best and I hope it continues as so. Lets keep to the point. It has certainly been a cut above. I would hate to loose the combined knowledge base here.

I think the whole thing has been taken care of now, Foxy did the right thing and we should all get over it. How bout a group hug and a high five, I too think this site is the best. We can all work together and do most of the time, I kinda like the banter that sometimes goes back and forth, but I also know this bothers some people. Thanks guys for all your help!

Hortons, I agree that the original issue of the questionable avatar has been dealt with satisfactorily, but I consider this to be a long awaited opportunity to have my say on what I feel is an important issue. I have no problem with a bit of banter as long as it's in the right spirit. With more serious issues forum members have always been wise enough to comment in a measured and mature way and to see through the occasional PR stealth weapon disguised as an innocent post and pull people up on this when necessary, but historically this has been in a way that causes the least offence.

Recently, in my opinion, there have been too many abusive posts, even some where the moderator has had to step in. In a recent case a new contributor told someone to 'F*#% Off' in only their second ever posting! This is not the sort of thing I like to read on a site where I am sharing the pleasures of my hobby. Perhaps my expectations are too high, but these expectations have been built on years of generally positive interaction on this very web-site. From my point of view I am on the verge of ceasing my interaction with the group because of this negativity. I am under no illusions that the site and life in general will carry on happily without me but I do feel it is incumbent on us to at least give an opinion when we observe things going in the wrong direction. It is Jerry's site, so to a large degree if he is satisfied with the way things are going then who am I to question the status quo? However I'm sure Jerry would welcome feedback from the membership, I am certainly interested in hearing other's opinions on this issue.

Well this has been a spirited topic of which I must add to. When I first saw that avatar my reaction was not to it's content butt rather to it's motion.
I hate animated avatars as they are too distracting and usually stupid anyway.
Foxy took it down right away. Good for him.
I think keeping this site, of which I think most members are "older", a mature forum without meanness is key.
I like to see a sexy woman astride a Norton in a tasty manner any day. Hell, my desktop is loaded with them. The misses doesn't mind cuz they are tasteful.

Now, being his username is "Foxy", am I to assume that "he" is a "she"?
Or just some narcissistic person who thinks they are clever. (Rhetorical) Meant to be funny without requiring a response.

I take it then none of you guys owns a Triumph Speed Triple then?

As for Ms Foxy...I find I'm a little more philosophical about the subject

P.S

IIRC don't most browsers have the ability to disable gifs?

I've followed a number of lists over the years dedicated to British bikes, and Nortons in particular. NOC, INOA, Brit-Iron, Brit-Bike, and AccessNorton to name a few. They've all been different in their own way but I don't think it was due to differences in the kind of intervention by the moderators or owners. One list had the moderator monitor all the posts which screwed up the chronology to the point it was impossible to follow a thread. Another just black balled people and after a while that started to get pretty arbitrary. The best lists seem to govern themselves somehow. I can't begin to figure out how it's done but it looks like it's just a matter of ignoring the rotters that stumble in and tolerating the lapses that people seem to have occasionally. Lists with a high turnover have more static, but that's all it is.

Gday All, many thanks to the emails and PM's in support to Missy's Butt. As stated previously I had no trouble with her removal but this threat "Guess I will be signing off now. Jim" was made mmmm..... a bit limp when a simple request for her removal was all thats needed!
Anyone wanting Missy's Butt can email me and I'll quite happily forward her on. Ive also lost to much weight following her for miles so she had to go
Foxy

Foxy,
It wasn't meant as a put-down. However it was necessary to sign off for the time as it was time to sit down for dinner and the computer screen is about 6 ft from the table and the wife and kids didn't like the view.
Personally I didn't pay much attention to it although I don't think it belongs on this site. I apologize if I offended. Jim

Personally, I find this site to be the most polite and well mannered that I have ever seen.

My ' Opinion ' is that ' Politically Correct ' is newspeak for a despotic faschism desguised as a liberal democracy , rather than resonsability of the individual for his actions .

A lot of nutters useing ignorance and ' Equality ' to subjegate any differance in thought , outlook , or Disposition . The Order of the Lowest Common Denominator .

Two Blokes on the Gallows , One asks , What did you Do ? . - ' Armed robbery , shot three , ettc etc '. , How about you ? ' I asked the secretary if she had a good weekend '

Unfortunately I dont regard the Western Social Norm. of Outrageous parties , hoodlumism , Swearing , Vandalism and wantonness as other than ' A misspent Youth ' Almost socially ordered
as other than Juvinile Delinquancy , originated in the chaos of WWII and the lack of parental autority ( half of them were 6 ft under ) in the post war period becomeing a social norm .

The Average football crowds about the same , perhaps . If sometimes constrained . To , if the family situation permits it , Have a teenaager devote themselves to some worthwhile persuit ,
be it Rugby , Sailing , motorcycleing , mountain climbing or hang gliding and haveing a stable time schedule to suport success in it is logical . There a few young guys who come here for
advice on motorcycling and mechanicing . Their parants could well see overt sexual referances as unsuitable . Despite Televisions abysmal standards ( Broadcasting Standards Authority ! They Dont Have Any ! )

Despite my caustic , cynical and testing disposition , largely to test the firmness of your convictions . Theres more than one way to skin a cat . As long as its done Right . . .

Well this world is small and getting smaller all the time, especially when your talking about the Norton community. Personally I hope to be able to meet most everybody on this list some day over a beer. I can't say that about any of the other forums I have been around. Jim

Let's all meet at the Million Dollar Highway!!! I really don't think I'm headed to the Vermont rally with these gas prices. I still think that had to be one of the best rides I have ever taken. That and Hell's Backbone. Or maybe the Texas Rally. :D What kind of beer do you guy's drink I'm paying for the first round!!

I will be looking to take you up on that. You know I will be there.

Well what's the best time of the year?? I thought the rally must have been close to the best, But seriously I do want to make it back, Maybe camp at the Mancos campground? They seemed to be great people. The wife loved the ride through the mountains, your one lucky man to live so close to those roads. For some reason we never made it up to Mesa Verde while there and that was a mistake I need to correct. Maybe a mini rally? Just a show if you can type of deal.

In the mountains usually July through September is pretty good. I think a Norton Access rally would be a really neat idea.

This sounds great to me. I'll be there if I can.

Time to start a Rally thread! :D

Debby
ps - Chuck, usually July is a good month because it doesn't rain as much then.
