Politically Correct?

This thread will no doubt be deleted or moved as it really has no Commando content.

We currently have an active thread that is about the fact that one of our members was in an accident, receiving damage to both himself and his bike.

Some of our members have choosen to turn this thread into a debate about whether or not we should be allowed to have photos of naked asses posted in our threads. I find the argument to be out of context and in very poor taste given the topic of the thread in which it is taking place. Foxy handled his situation with class and without dispute. The rest of you who want to turn it into a debate should have as much class and take the debate to a new location and not in Fullauto's thread. Right now the only asses I see are the ones who are creating a situation where one does not need to exist.

It has nothing to do with politically correct or anything like that. The avatar was noticed in a high traffic thread and so there were comments that had to be made, unfortunately not about the accident.

Just a matter of the wrong avatar at the wrong time in the wrong thread.

I found it a really annoying avatar. Every time that I tried to touch her bum cheeks, she moved away ! :roll:

I should have asked my girls if they found it offensive. I think that they'd just have laughed. Of course, I wouldn't let them go out dressed like that ! :shock:

Regarding last night's post...since hindsight is usually crystal clear...I should have just PM'd and offered my opinion in that manner. I just posted an apology to Fullato for "highjacking" his thread and wished him the very best. However, I feel this has always been a Forum comprised of a small, close-knit family of Nortoneers who exemplify great integrity and, in my opinion, we are best served by having standards that exemplify the proud owners of the distinct & classy machines we own. Plainly stated: I think we're far above the common riff-raff you see online in the biking world. I'm sorry if I offended anyone and will pause & think before posting personal opinions in the future.

Censorship is a tightrope walk best treaded lightly. The internet continues to baffle and frustrate and celebrate. 2 diplomas in Art ,one in Experimental and countless group discussions on this subject later I say once started where does it eventually rest. No harm intended is paramount. I love Canada and America for the freedoms ,could we talk like this in many other places ?

Gday All, many thanks to the emails and PM's in support to Missy's Butt. As stated previously I had no trouble with her removal but this threat "Guess I will be signing off now. Jim" was made mmmm..... a bit limp when a simple request for her removal was all thats needed!
Anyone wanting Missy's Butt can email me and I'll quite happily forward her on. Ive also lost to much weight following her for miles so she had to go

Just a couple of days ago Wes was complaining the all the Brit Iron guys were essentially girl-less on their rides, rallies and meetings while the Harley guys were almost always accompanied by their gals and their parties were full of naked drunk and drugged women, though not all worth looking at. Wives don't like knowing real men are all really pigs at base, so best not rub it in their faces online is all.

I would qualify that with 'All women know that all men are pigs at heart (penis), so best not rub it in their faces online.'

They're not stupid, get used to it and grow up.

I'd rather see the forum without the sexual innuendo. I've always thought there was a bit much but left it alone 'til now. I think most of us are past this issue.

We don't double up unless forced to, duh. Wes brought it up the day after we did a Polar Bear ride last Saturday with non-HD riders and made note of only one gal w/o any attractive features - appearance to attitude. Then in his curmudgeon country manner he mentioned similar lack of gals among the events of the local Ozark Vintage M/C club. These guys have hand fulls of running cycles and projects so must be like putting up with gold digging mistresses to their wives.

First of all I would like to say, hats off to Foxy for responding to some negative feedback in a polite and non-confrontational way, thus solving a problem without any fuss. I am definitely not a fan of Political Correctness gone-wild, however I am a fan of civility and good manners and I'm sorry to say that many recent contributors on this site seem to have thrown these simple courtesies out of the window. I observe that a number of regular participants have voted with their feet and I have recently been among that number. I have had enormous pleasure communicating with fellow enthusiasts - some of whom have become friends - and my knowledge of the Norton marque and Commandos in particular has been immeasurably enhanced by my participation. However there seems to be more and more posts which are written simply to start an argument and these inevitably decline into name calling and worse - I find some comments which are clearly racist to be particularly offensive. I do not wish my comments to be perceived as a criticism of either Jerry or L.A.B., who continue to provide a Stirling service within the best of their abilities - and for free. Perhaps it is in the nature of open fora that change is inevitable and this is not always in a positive direction, however I would like to call on members to consider that we are a diverse bunch here consisting of ladies and gentlemen, North Americans, South Americans. Europeans and even some Asians as well as those from further afield. We are unlikely to share the same attitudes towards Politics, Religion, Culture, Race and Gender Issues, to name a few, but if we keep our discussions to things that have relevance, are beneficial or encouraging to Norton ownership we can't go far wrong. I think spirited debate is a good thing and we can always agree to disagree on those occasions where our differences of opinion are unresolvable. This site is a cut above most others and it is only we, the members, who can keep it this way.,
