Gents,
In rebuilding my Mk3 I installed a Cool Cat assimilator, also running Boyer ignition. My question is can I use a Podtronics regulator with the Cool Cat? If so would you recommend keeping the stock capacitor or is the Podtronics sufficient?
Thanks!
Paul

I have been running that combination, without the capacitor, since 2015 with no problems. I have had both the MKIII and MKIV Boyer analogs.

On subsequent bikes I just eliminated the capacitor and wired across it.
Sounds like you're saying to connect the wires that went to the capacitor together - not good - at best, the fuse will blow, at worst smoke and burnt wires would happen if not fire. To eliminate the capacitor, you disconnect the wires and insulate at least the Brown/Blue wire connector.

Having never heard of the lower than room temp feline, I had to google it and the only reference found (across all the internets!!) was this A.N. thread from 2012... https://www.accessnorton.com/NortonCommando/cool-cat-assimilator-wiring.12806/

and on there, a wise post form a wise bloke that used to frequent these hallowed pages...a one mister Hobot:

"Ya know most of us can tell when engine is running and would likely miss the orange light in haste to get off and mingle so only replacement that makes any sense to me are the color change LED voltage meters the do come on with key to show current state of battery instead of not yet spinning to charge, duh. Looks as stock as factory till cranking up so nullifies any logic to jump Norton fence trying to mimic another odd quirk in Norton excess electrical complexity."

I ran the CoolCat unit for many years until I installed the ICM system. No problems with either one.
Mike
No capacitor

I tossed the assimilator as it doesn't actually tell if the DC voltage/charging is sufficient. It also cleaned up some unnecessary wiring.
Here, fits in the same dash hole and tells useful information:

There are other brands as well.
