Did you try tightening it back down?

there is nothing to tighten from what i can see, the guard is loose to the frame, the assembly is tight to the guard, unless a bolt has fallen out that fixes between the frame and inside the assembly somehow i cannot see what could be loose, i can pull it apart obviously but didnt really want to mess the electrical joiners etc until i know what i am trying to fix

There is a rubber strip that goes around the frame, under the "U" bracket that appears to be missing on your bike.

Details details.
Besides this instant factory rubber spacer-dampener.
I put rubber washers or 0 rings between other chassis fastening points.
Seems to help deaden the banged down lawn chair sense bouncing
over lumping surface. Also tends to keep any fastener slack developing
to lossen their nip up.

While you got the thing in hand, better check the forward mount
stud, its a weak place the composite cracks around and can let
stud fall right out but usually worse, it just spins in place so
under fender nut can't be fully undone. This is another place
the epoxy and magnetic could save the save or be applied
as a preventive.

In some cases the mount decays so bad around this stud its
about hopeless to recover, so I've drilled right through
and put a chromed dome head bolt to be done with it.

The woven earthing wire is a weak spot some RTV
might preserve. Anywho inspect it keeping in mind
it can mess with ignition as well as tail light.

Also on centering this rear loop hanger, please note if it
also centers on the factory rear wheel rim-hub. All I've
checked and asked to check have found rim ~3/8" to LH.

The rubber on mine was rotten and I cut to strips from an old inner tube. Probably only needed one, but I put the extra one in for more tightening abilities!

Thanks guys, I thought it must have been a sleeve worked loos and fell off, will make something up and re do it, cheers

I ordered that piece last year and got a little piece of foam. Checked it last week because my fender was painted and it was a little stiff. So I ordered another one- it's only like .25c or something, and I got a rubber piece.

Since I have a strip of foam I could cut up and make like 10 of them I went with the foam, and used the rubber behind my led brakelight so it won't short out against the metal plate.

Moral is- foam or rubber I doubt it matters. You can order one or just cut something you have lying around.

Looks like you could take a rubber grommet of the appropriate size and cut it down to less than 360 degrees to fit....?
