Yes this is true if you're talking about Hylomar Blue. I believe they also make a product similar to the -bonds. Hylomar is a brand name, not an individual product.

Danno, yes, that is correct. Thanks for pointing that out. We need to be more specific about these products. I believe all the previous comments regarding Hylomar referred to either Universal Blue or the PL 32 variants. That said, Hylomars RTV silicone based products are referred to as Hylosil, not Hylomar. I will edit my previous comments to reflect this. Do you know the family name for Hylomars "x-bond" sealants?

They do make 2 products with "bond" in their names. Hylobond M5101 & M511. However, neither appears to remotely resemble the chemical make up of ThreeBond, YamaBond, etc. The Hylomar products are 2 part acrylics. They are adhesives, not sealants. See

So, its merely a marketing similarity.

No one ever answered this question. Is there a preferred thickness for these insulators?

The intended purpose of the phenolic spacers is to reduce heat transfer so logically the thicker, the better.
The standard originals are 1/16" Edit: 1/8" thick, but the ones I bought from Amal are 1/8" Edit: 3/16".
