Pazon Altair kickback

I have a Smart Fire on my 650SS, and found out early to bring the machine up to compression, THEN turn the ignition on, give it a proper mans kick, otherwise it would kick back even with slow turn over and give my angle one hell of a belt.
Doing it this way gives a first kick start each time, only thing is every now and then old age pops up and I forget :(.

A Pazon Smartfire is an analog unit - a different animal than the digital Pazon Altair. If it is kicking back I'd suspect low battery or it is mis-timed.

I find better results with tickle, kick through twice sans ignition, then on with the switch , up close to compression and right on through full force (mind that my full force is likely a lot less than most!).

Know they are are different animals but made by the same company, I was more talking about the way I start the old girl, to get away from kickback.

I have a Smart Fire on my 72 Combat engine. I find that turning ignition Off and back On betwenn kicks eliminates the Kick backs.

I guess you could do the same using the kill button. But we really shouldn't have to go thru all these silly gyrations.
I think my Pazon Altair was the older version. I only noticed kickback when my knees started getting bad and kick quality went downhill. Have since gone to Tri-Spark and love it. (New knees too.) I'm using 5K NGK plug caps and spiral wound suppression wires with N7Ys. Coil is Rev-Tech H-D type with 4.5 Ohm primary. Also have additional power filtering for the ignition.

I've got Altair with resistor caps. No kick-back. I flood and kick cold and usually get first kick. After fueling or for some other reason I'm starting after only briefly shutting down, I'll kick it, again first kick. I know it's juvenile but I do that when there's a another bike, especially an HD at the pumps, otherwise I push the button. So many of the guys riding HDs in my age group are late to the game, riding the bike their moms wouldn't let them have, so I'm the old guy riding the bike of my youth. Stupid kid stuff, I know.:)

Anyway, my Altair has been flawless whilst my early Boyer was a sprague and knee killer. Auto advance was a knee killer too when it stayed full advance.
