Will P11 header pipes fit on a Commando ?
I like the way they tuck in closer to the bike, but will they foul the chaincase or anything else ?

Hi Trident,

I thought about this as I think the front curves are better than the Commando equivalent, the SS. The problem will be, as Fast Eddie alluded to, that the silencers will not be horizontal and point to the sky somewhat.

Yes, Graham, but the pipes could be chopped before the bend to keep the silencers levelish, there's all sorts of link pipes etc I could use to get the angle I want, my point is really will the pipes foul the chaincase etc.
Looking at the pipes for sale, I think they would be ok, but always good if someone else has tried it before I waste my money (like I've been known to on many occasions  )

Keep us updated on your progress - if there is money to be wasted I would rather it was yours than mine :D

Danno had a picture of his SS clone will S-type heat shields which is the look I would like but I still have reservations about the comfort with these pipes and the clearance of the side panels (mine are plastic).

Went through a similar process this winter in looking for an SS set up, I did not want the stock parallel to the ground look however, and was trying for an upward swept line a'la the NYC Norton "schoolbus bike" with shorty peashooters. Ended up fabricating a custom set of upper shock mounts to get the angle I wanted (accommodates 2 high dural iso's), as well as a custom set of heat shields that are tapped into the exhaust clamp itself. No clearance issues with side panels in my set up

heat shields (hard to see, but they do the job and blend well)

You have produced in effect what I have seen on almost every Seeley Commando running in French classic racing! Except they have a rigid rear mount.

Can you clarify what you mean by a 'high dural iso'? Are they just AN Commando exhaust bobbins? Or are they sometng else? I have fabricated am alternate head steady for my Rickman and want a firm rubber element.

When I first built the 2 x separate exhaust system for my race bike (pre 2 into 1) I used the AN exhaust rubber mounts (cotton reels) and still use these same items on my 2 EX 1 systems that are becoming popular.
There is 1 x mounted with a bracket where the rear top Z plate mount bolt and 1 x used on the inside gusset of the rear shock mount with a custom bracket

Not the AN iso's, have found issues with those lately with the rubber being a bit too soft, these are the ones I used

Only issue I have had (other than having to swing the pipes up out of the way to remove side panels) is a little leakage at the pipe-to-muffler clamp leaving a little black residue on the panels, which are steel on my bike. I would think oil tank heat would be as much of an issue as pipe heat on the right side.

OK, so you meant 'High Duro #' which is fine, these are quoted as 50 Durometer. Unfortunately I would want a supplier in Europe. Thanks.
