Is this part available to purchase ?

I would think that Norton OEM parts will come available again . You may find this at a ex-Norton dealer ? Start calling around , you may find one. Definately email the Norton UK address on the website and let them know what you are looking for !

Wasn’t thought of in 2016 , mine hasn’t got one

Agreed Richard , This part has been in the parts list from day one though and part of the original design . But because the Euro 3's or before not getting too hot they decided they could go without and save a few $ . But they weren't driving in 97 F degree heat with stopped traffic . Leave it to SS to shave off a dollar here and a dollar there thinking he's saving the company ! And as the restrictions got tighter and leaner more heat , now he or they decided it's time to use the throttle body heat insulators again ! I suppose if you ask enough owners you can probably figure out when they re-introduced these into production again . Probably Euro 4 somewhere. Go figure , Here's to the next hundred years ..

My mates 2018 961 is devoid of the insulation part as well.
Might not be needed in the UK!
Only in hotter climes.

Find a 2019 owner and ask them . The part you see here came from Norton UK . I thought Rob told me they were re-introduced at some point ? You must understand that I am not a Norton 961 hate monger. I just don't like it when corners are cut and the subsequent having to deal with these things now .

I was told by Rob J that they were a nice to have but not essential. I bought one anyway but haven't fitted it yet.

Can’t remember where I read this, but it worked on the couple of occasions I tried it when mine had gotten particularly hot and bothered:

1. Switch ign off.
2. Switch ign on but do not start.
3. Open throttle fully and then close.
4. Switch ign off.
5. Switch ign on and start engine as normal.

I’m not sure what this does, maybe resets the TPS or similar? But it’s easy to try, harmless, and worked for me.

This is from me. The TPS reads zero to where the throttle is when starting. So if you touch the throttle at start you get a bad mix. Ecu is stupid. Part two, there were (are) a lot of shitty knock off components on a 961. So you never know what you’ll get. Any year. So doing this helps the TPS but it will only work so many times. If you even find this works once you should replace the tps and hope its better than the one you have.

remapping with new BIN file and fuel map makes the most difference in my opinion. This is after coils, wires and sensors and o2 plugs first. Basically the entire electricical system is riddled with cost savings and knock off parts. Sad.

And when truth be revealed, Simon got his panties in a twist and started threatening the master craftsmen with lawsuits they couldn't afford to win. A good opportunity to thank you fellas again. And my apologies for all the bitching I did in 2014.

Is there any way to unlock an OMEX ecu?
Mine is an E11 02 3612, Serial # 9657 630G 01N31.
The bike is a 2016 cafe racer, about 9,000 miles. No major issues, but I am sure that will change, a small one has appeared.
I live in Hawaii and I have a hard time finding anyone in the US capable of handling my cpu. The bike has two mods, a "high performance" spark plug wire set + iridium plugs and a "Matt Capri" exhaust. Of course the non stock pipes imply a non stock map.
Mat Capri closed shop 3 months after I got the bike, have not been able to locate him. Omex said they can not help me, both the new and old Norton said they can not help me. How Omex can claim that they are obligated by contract to a defunct company I don't understand. What I understand is that the only way I can check and modify my map and ignition timing is with a running engine, preferably on a dyno. I do have experience with such things, I put about 40,000 miles on 2 mercedes 560SELs using my home made "Megasquirt" ecu, it performed much better than the original Bosch cis, so if there is no answer to my problem I do have alternatives, but I would like to keep the bike without major changes.
Any ideas?

So TVS Norton replied with a No we can't help you ? That is disappointing . Have you tried to contact Stu Bodycote on this forum ? He has OMEX ECU capability .

rF4K5i I haven't tried it myself but others say it worked for them.

Could you please make it a little simpler? I am too old to become a texting expert, actually i don't do any, so, if I weren't Greek I would say "it's all Greek to me:)

Hi
Sorry, only just seen your message....not been on here much lately as Ive been mega busy.
I've got a password for the ecu (only a few were locked, I wouldn't have thought yours would have been at that age?), I'll dig it out later this evening.
