New for 2013 HD XR1200X, no wait they stopped making them.
I don't know why they bother with models like that. It's cool bike, one I'd like to own, but the dealers have no interest in them or V-Rods. In the last year, I was kind of nosing around, thinking about something newish, that was a little easier on my arthritic left shoulder. I was interested in the Street Rod with conventional riding position, and the XR1200X in the Harley line-up. Still a few Street rods around new, and with very low miles at dealers. One local dealer had a yellow 2006 Street Rod on their show floor, brand new. I asked a few questions, and all they could tell me is what a failure the bike was because of the riding position and seat height. The very things I liked. They never took my name, and showed no interest in me. It's still sitting there. Another dealer had a leftover 2011 XR1200X on their website, and wouldn't give a price, but said it had a "speciaL' price, and to e-mail for that price. So I did, and never heard back. About a week later, I got some sort of automated response from them, telling me how important I was as a customer, yada, yada, yada, and their sales people would be getting in touch with me. Well, that was in March, and it's October, and I'm still waiting. These are about the same reactions me and a friend got when we stopped in to look at Buells 10 plus years ago. Ended up selling my 2001 Speed Triple and bought a 6,000 mile R1150R roadster. I was a buyer, ready to go, and the dealers, could not, or would not make any type of effort with me. I always chuckle when I see an interview with some Harley suit in a bike mag, talking about how they need to expand their markets, appeal to non big twin buyers and younger folks. They wouldn't know how to expand their market if they had free motorcycles. Their sales "force" would blow that assignment, too.
