Was looking thru the Vegas auction photos and saw the shortened footrests on the red Interstate:

Not quite rearsets....

I've thought of this mod several times - the stock footpeg position just isn't that comfortable for me. But I wonder if rearsets might be too far back... and I do like the look of the z-plates and the footrest arms. Just looks 'right'.

Has anyone here tried this? Better yet, anyone ridden this and rearsets that could compare them for comfort & control?

I'm 6'3" again and felt cramped on factory pegs, then fretting to buy rear sets but found them very comfortable for long rides to dicing up the narrows. I vote get some and get some relief for more attention on next vista than annoyance of leg and foot position. On this not I ground down the kicker peg stops so it folded inward past poking my calf.

When I had my Interstate I'd put my feet on the passenger pegs for longer rides. The tank moves you so far back its almost like a racing tank.

YES, 6''2 , legs used to cramp upon std pegs, arse would be numb, shortened, pegs back to about swingarm line, flatish bars, last ride was 9 1/2 hours.
Down side is kickstart needs to be laid back as it is right in the way, do a search on rear sets there was about 3 pages with some good ideas, I only copied CASH's design, also had to fabricate rear brake pedal and stop light switch, but well worth it now

I cut my Mk3's foot rests down like that many years ago to suit me, I'm vertically challanged, have a poor right hip and very bad right knee, I find them comfortable. There's a photo somewhere on this site.

I got aftermarket shock extensions for Harleys (they look like truncated tuning forks) to drop the rider's pegs 3 inches--the forks go over the stock footpeg assemblies and are bolted where the old pegs would be--the blades hang down and allow the pegs to be secured directly below.

The brake pedal now abuts the new left peg directly instead of the standard stop bolt-to-footrest contact--the gearshift pedal is angled down at about 40 degrees. This setup is much more comfortable for a two-meter 100-kg guy--my knees are now level with the tank top.

Combined with the two-inch risers on the back shocks and four-inch-over front forks the bike almost looks big enough--I rarely use the rear pegs on the tollway any more.
