I'm partial to the clamp in light of the fact that it's added mass around the entire tube, rather than the welded nuts pulling the tube wall out when tightened. Of course, plenty of folks have done just that with good results...

Yes, that’s how the mk111 was as standard. It’s also what Norman White does as a mod (he did it to mine) so I’d say it’s a good way of doing it.
