I have an N15 with frame number 114875 and it is currently fitted with early TLS drum brake Commando forks. I am a little confused as to which forks should be fitted to my bike - rubber gators or metal shrouds? Can I convert my Commando forks to work (new longer stancions) or should I simply try and find some G15/N15 forks?

Forks Atlas/early Commando/N15 are the same, not the stanchions and dampers that are longer.
Like Commando, N15 has the rubber gators.
I would not use the longer stanchions; the commando one works fine and better.
With stanchions longer the bike s too high ahead because has on the rear a 18 rim like Atlas.
Commando rear 19 rim and stanchion shorter than N15.
But, maybe your forks are those of the N15.
I would change my rear N15 rim from 18 to. 19.
About front wheel, the hub and brake plate is the same of Atlas, Commando has only the brake plate later different.

The length of the stanchions has nothing to do with riding height .
The front of the bike rests on the fork springs , which are supported by the damper tubes . Stanchions support nothing .
N15 damper tubes are longer than Commando ones .
Combining shorter Commando stanchions with the longer N15 damper tubes would be a big mistake .
Changing the rear rim to 19" would also be a mistake .

Does anyone sell longer stanchions and the damper tubes? I am struggling to find a correct front end that is not seriously expensive.

Hi.
My N15 has the stock longer stanchions/dampers and 18 rear rim.
But i did a test for a while with commando forks and rear 19: i can say that the bike had a better asset than stock, your feet arent touching in the cornering and inserting better.

Buy only the stanchions (burton bike supply) and use the same commando dampers with an extension (easy and cheap).

Of course you can use the shorter Commando damper tubes to lower the front .
I also use shorter dampers , but with spacers on top of the springs , combined with the long stanchions .
Rear riding height is set by the rear shock length .
Normally you have a WM 3 rim at the rear , with a fatter tire :110/90 .
With 19" rim , the rear wheel will be taller than front .
What tires do you use ?

Hi.
Tires are k81 front 4.10/90/19 and rear 4.10/90/18 for a road running, with the stock rims (WM3 rear and WM2 front).
My P11 that has the same size rims with offroad tires Heidenau.
