Norton in the Movies

Have you noticed that in the British TV series 'Heartbeat', in Claude Greengrass's brother-in-law Bernard's garage, there is a complete 7R AJS. They usually only show the front wheel. Whoever wrote the script and designed the sets, must know what motorcyclists look for in old garages.

I like Heartbeat set back in the late 60s and you do get to see some great motorcycles, a few Nortons, Triumphs, BSA etc etc, in one episode they had the Mods vs the Rockers, in real life the village is a historical village set up for tourest, not only the bikes but the old cars and steam trains all play a part.
On Greengrass's truck whats its name it took me a while before I could read it ???

Heart beat, why do you miss when my baby kisses me. I can whistle the tune but can't remember the rest. Great show.
Cheers,
Thomas

Yes also some great music from that era, the truck that Greengrass drives is a Mandy Morris, in one epiosde two thugs riding around smashing up duke boxes from a revial supplier, one was riding a 650 Bonny and the other a 1957 Featherbed the same year as my Featherbed frame and tank, sometimes they have a Norton racer parked outside of the garage

I visited that garage in 2016 and spoke to the owner, he owns a classic bike race team.

Thanks for that as I am a great fan of the series and have 2 box sets of the series on DVD but they have the series rerunning on TV every weekday at 4:30 pm, always watch when I get the chance, I use to work with a Yorkshire man great bloke ex Royal Navy man and a bit of a lad and had some great stories of his life in the navy.

Rocky Cassidy, played by Neil Morrissey, had the use of three Commandos for the show. One still exists complete with the panniers the last I heard (about three years ago) and belonged to a bloke who's name I've forgotten but also was a bit of a rotary guru.
Neil Morrissey also had a Commando in "I bought a Vampire Motorcycle" ... I don't really know what to say about that film, but you know any film that's going to feature a talking "turd" is not going to be a classic...

Re; “"I bought a Vampire Motorcycle” with Neil Morrissey in it, so glad I missed that one and from what other people tell me Neil Morrissey was better in that children’s program called “Bob the Builder”!

There is a Canadian show (tv series) called Heartland . Mostly equestrian in the theme but a Commando is in some scenes.
Cheers,
Thomas
Yes I recall seeing those episodes during Xmas break in 2017... not a show I watch but my parents had it on while I was visiting. I was in the midst of finalizing my first Norton purchase at the time, so it was quite ironic. Seemed they got it from a dilapidated barn find to showroom spec within apparently a
few days!

Great House of Fraser ad from 2015 with vocals by Aussie chanteuse Grace, and produced by Quincy Jones who also did the 1963 Lesley Gore original.
Need to watch it to the end for best effect. (some old codgers reminiscing here probably won,t like the in between bits...)

Maybe not an actual movie but this music video with Dutch singer Caro Emerald features a black Norton Commando. It shows up at the 0:27 mark. No idea why it's there but it's funny how it only takes a split second to recognize the iconic silhouette.

Westside S01E05. Our hero Ted West gets pulled over by a gang of Norton riders round about 33:00. One Commando, One Atlas and one other TBD. Recent series, someone must know the riders...

Keanu Reeves and the late River Phoenix
