Hey y'all, I stumbled upon a Norton 810 dunststall on eBay and thought I would get some input. Not interested in buying it but wondering if its the real deal. Maybe a possible but for one of you looking for a new project?! It's been in storage 30 years.

I have an original cycle world road test of Dunstall 810. Decidedly underwhelming...the original 750 Commando road test was considerably quicker.

The 750 did the 1/4 in 12.6 the Dunstall did it in 13.13. Where's the beef?

As Cycle World stated in the review, "Dunstall equipment does not necessarily improve Britain's biggest twin...it just makes it different"

wrong front fender and seat, looks to be Norvil stuff. Can't tell if it's the alloy barrel or not from the limited pictures. The only way to really tell is look at the data plate, Dunstall stamped a bunch of extra stuff on them.

The only ' Dunstall' part of this appears to be the mufflers, and the stickers on the sidecovers ??
The yellow fiberglass mostly appears to be Norton proddy race replica stuff ?

Bit hard to see, but maybe it has the 810 kit in it too ?
As someone said here the other day, the 810 conversion was less than reliable in the engine dept, especially if used enthusiastically...

Don't get too carried away, $$$ ??

This is what you would typically expect a Dunstall 810 to be ? Although a half fairing was in the list of options.

I seem to recall a tested top speed from an 810, of some description, being quoted as 133mph 'making it as fast as a Z1'

Per the CYcle world road test that I'm looking at right now, they say top speed was 118 at 6520 RPM. Paul Dunstall was present at the test and made some suggestions re improving the 1/4 mile times but the best they managed with a shorter sprocket was 12.9 which also dropped the top speed. Definitely nothing there compared to a stock 750 though from a collector viewpoint a real 810 Dunstall would probably be worth some money to someone from a historical viewpoint

The seat is not Dunstall and neither Norvill but Gus Kuhn, it fix like standard seat and do not need to cut the rear tale light.

The yellow ebay bike has the Dunstall barrels, wide spaced fins and stud attachment, while the blue bike has the Maney barrels with the through bolts.

I doubt the blue bike has Maney barrels, it is a common mod to add the thru bolts to the Dunstall barrels.
