Norton 961 shift linkage broke

What a ludicrous ‘system’.

It sounds like the basics of a Monty Python sketch !

Info being passed from dept to dept like that… in 2023… haven’t TVS heard about or got an automated material replenishment process in place ?!?

Not at present at Norton Birmingham it seems FE. Low volume, limited runs, single location. Gonna be that way for the foreseeable future I guess.

Up side - we are getting spares. Down side - we may have to wait for some items. Beats no spares, with a side of cold shoulder! ;)

A state of the art factory ain’t very state of the art without an MRP system of some kind !

Wasting more of your time.
If you need your shift rod repaired, I have access to a machine shop (my dad owns a machine shop) I could repair it as Stu said.
Free of charge if you pay shipping.
PM me if I can be of service.
It looks like Jkal is in USA , even better.

Another Norton price has just come my way....£311 for a rear sprocket 🤣🤣🤣
I'll check stock once I've bathed and put the boy to bed....hopefully I can help him out.

Seriously?

Surely that’s for a chain and both sprockets, and possibly cush drive rubbers, as a ‘set’ ??

By all accounts not, just for a rear sprocket. He's spoken to Talon, but they're currently out of stock also. I'll see how many I've got as it is risky for me to sell my last one, as sods law I'll then need one for a customers bike.

OMG ! That's horribly too high ! You can get up to 48T from HPS in UK for a fraction of that , probably less than 50 pounds . However , the 50T remains difficult to get as of late . I hope TALON continue to supply the 50T rear sprocket , please keep us posted.

What are they doing with these prices on certain items; makes little sense. Some look appropriate, like the link bar subject of this thread and others ridiculously high.

You have to imagine these would be prices levied to both Donington and Birmingham bikes. Not good for bike sales if the cost of spares are known to be elevated.

It’s almost as though they are putting a significant levy on low volume items and ignoring the fact that they are disproportionately high.

Look here for TALON rear sprockets for BST wheels 525 pitch up to 47T :

Oooooh!…………………, gold!…………….….. bling🤑! Gold coloured rear sprocket and gold centred brake disks - a totally pointless and frivolous idea that only the shallowest of bikers would entertain!

I want em’ - real bad!!!!

Seems they have changed their pricing:

The only thing I can think is that Norton may have been faced with a large MOQ for the 50T rear sprockets . I feel like crying because I was able to buy a 50T Talon rear sprocket for 33lb from HPS some time ago. I wonder what the MOQ is for TALON sprockets a thousand ? They should go to a belt drive like Harley has , I wish they would.

I literally sent over $6500 usd in parts during the Donington days. It was never a problem getting spares. If they were in stock, I’d have them to my door in 3 days.

TVS for 3, nearly 4 years, still can’t get it right. Not to mention, Donington wasn’t even half business TVS is. They worked form a shed compared to the multi million dollar facility TVS flaunts.

How do you expect them to pay off that high debt and overhead they have?

1) they’re not selling hardly any motorcycles
2) nobody is interested in a over priced 13 year old bike.
3) they refuse to sell outside the UK
4) I hate to say it, but I’ll bet Garner is laughing.

Need the one you sold me back?
