Is this a commando or dominator? So I was cruising today and the shift linkage snapped! Does anyone know where I can get a replacement? With the bend I think it’s 961 specific? Thanks, pics attached
Stu , I like this idea !I drill these out to 5mm, and tap to M6. Then thread lock in a 14.9 hitensile stud.
Should probably do both ends while it's off!I drill these out to 5mm, and tap to M6. Then thread lock in a 14.9 hitensile stud.
Commando mkii 2016Is this a commando or dominator?
Thanks all, I’m going to reach out to Norton and see if I can get one. If not I’d be interested in buying your spareI had a couple fail - sleeved and pinned as a fix which has worked well. Stu’s idea might be better.
- Search out thread “Gear change greeeeeemlins” - lots of information on the subject.
- Should be able to purchase one directly from Norton.
- If all options fail, I have a spare.
Good luck

No problem mate - Geoff is your spares man at Norton. Goes by the title Aftersales Adviser. Thanks all, I’m going to reach out to Norton and see if I can get one. If not I’d be interested in buying your spare
Yes save time and money… and more importantly… prevent future reoccurrence of the failure. If you read up on this it's the thread cutting that creates a fracture point. Save time and money and as Stu says get a friend/machine shop to face it off, drill, tap and threadlock a piece of bolt thread in. A half hour job.
For the love of God, do not ask TVS Norton! Thanks all, I’m going to reach out to Norton and see if I can get one. If not I’d be interested in buying your spare

What, make a friend who has a machine shop?I read up. I don't have a friend with a machine shop, but would love to make one.
Good info Stu.Brummie Norton have revised their bikes linkage as well. They too have drilled it and tapped it to what I assume to be M6, and are now using a male rose joint, albeit just regular steel instead of stainless.
Good info Stu.
I take it that it will fit to our Donington Norton’s without difficulty?
I'd imagine it to be a straight fit, but I really wouldn't waste your money. Your original rod can be drilled and tapped in the same way, and then you can fit much better quality rose joints than the standard steel and bronze one's they're using.Good info Stu.

Good point FE - will be interesting to see if this is mentioned in Norton‘s response. You will have to buy the rod AND both rose joints… ordering the rod alone will lead to frustration I fear !
