This is the first test run of the 5 litre V Twin engine based on two Pratt & Whitney R1340 aircraft cylinders, all other parts are hand made including the crankshaft, con rods and crankcase wooden moulds, the crankcases were then cast in aluminium. The engine runs a dry sump with twin pumps, twin SU carbs, points ignition with manual advance / retard and twin plugs per head.

theres a ' home made ' parrallel twin 900 here : http://thekneeslider.com/tangeras-verks ... -to-metal/

NO , Its Not Plastic !

Unlike the old school cut and weld, re-cut and re-weld builders, the 21st century process enables a designer to create everything on a computer screen, including the engine, and then, with the addition of 3D printing, create patterns for molds to cast the components. Combined with CNC machining, a builder today can create custom motorcycles he could only dream of creating in the past, unless he worked for a large manufacturer.

Crikey . They did that did they . I thought it was the computer nerds who couldnt get anytthing right , let alone on the first attempt . :x

Now Honda does some nasty 500 parrallel twin formular race bike , and are developing a 1000 parrallel twin , alledgedly . It hardly worth the effort .
and theyve done a 1000 triple car V tec turbo snotmobile - The back sheds finding it hard to compette . Somewhat dispiritting . :( :?

With the debut of the 2013 Honda CBR500R street bike, Honda has somehow managed to get the 500cc parallel twin budget bike to be the weapon of choice in the European Junior Cup — displacing the KTM 690 Duke from its racing duty. A grooming series for World Superbike Racing, the EJC series is a cost-effective way to get young future stars on bikes and in front of the people that could make or break their careers.

all those pictures and apparently the engines so ugly they cant print it . :? :?:

Somebody had better get ' the Press ' to tell Honda they decided in the 70s that Twins and Singles were OBSOLETTE and ARCHAIC .
and people need sophisticated transverse foursa and electric starting . Whatever next , superceede the Magneto . :( :P

From a comment on the web page, these engines I suspect are low revving, i.e.revs to 3,500rpm- they would be useful to fit into a tractor- and about as useful as a chocolate teapot for use in a solo motorcycle.

“5 Liter V Twin of P&W Radials! Holy Cow, I missed that bit 1st time around, what talent, what torque you must be pulling! Impressed.”

I saw a project car at Winton raceway about 2 months ago, which was the V twin made from two aircraft barrels and heads on a home made crankcase. The setup was similar to a Morgan except with two wheels at the back. It had no gearbox, only a two speed chain drive at the rear. The crankcases were beautiful and I said that to the owner. You would think they came out of the Vincent factory.

Errr, they could be geared rather taller than yer common typical motorcycle.
100 mph at 2000 rpm anyone ?

Starting it might be interesting though....
