Decided to get some new Amal carbs, which ones will fit this bike? Should they be with the cutaway spray tubes for example? And long needles? What is the good reference for those with no need to be filled before mounting? With 260 main jets or 220? 106 needle jet and 31/2 sliders?

I do have the metal airbox filter and see thru peashooters.

This greatly depends on what the supplier sends you.
Correctly jetted replacements with the stepped spray tubes and 4-ID needles specifically for your Mk2 would be 932 R35 and L36, same as you have, however, various Amal suppliers will often build the carbs to the specification required from a generic 932/300 & 932/301 pair in which case they may come without the necessary machined flats and could have flat-topped spray tubes and standard 2-ID 4-stroke needles.
The machined flats are certainly needed, however if the needles are the correct type to match either the stepped or flat-topped the spray tubes then you shouldn't experience any problems.

In which case the standard 260 mains, .106 needle jets and 3 1/2 slides will be a good starting point.

Hi there,
I'm a bit late reading this but just as L.A.B. mentions:
Yes, as one would expect for a Mk2, but not a Mk2A.
Here's a pic of the recessed left-hand side cover with the Dsuz fastener.

Also noticed that you have the bracket for the original ignition switch still attached to your bike. You may know that on the original MK2A, the bracket is attached to the infamous Air box:

Also, as L.A.B. mentioned, there isn't a lot of room behind the covers (e.g. for a toolkit) with the massive Air box, and so the battery is oriented sideways:

It's a little difficult to see, but there's the rectifier down there:

My frame also has the MK3 Tab as I believe that Norton was tooling up for the new hinged seat with the Mk3:

Finally, my frame & engine numbers are about 600 later than yours (3198**) if that helps.

Just let me know if you would like any other pics

Thanks for your pics, it's always interesting to get those practical information. But for the moment I'm in another kind of troubles so matching the original becomes suddenly less important for me right now.

Hava look & see if the mufflers are straight thru ' glass pac ' , so it breathes freeley .

Thanks for the input, makes me happy to discover that they are straight thru ones, as there is almost 62" length.

Oh how I love that tape measure! I need to spring on of these on my fellow work chums

I use a engineers tape (in .10ths) and it often times causes panic and glasses to come out :)

Lovely bike btw, your in the right forum, the folks here really know their stuff! It's a great place to learn or burn some time.

OK, thanks, it's a Feng Shui model. Black chinese signs are good, if red ones you should change the size of your bed, house, workbench or whatever you are measuring

And you're right, it's a good website with very often relevant remarks.
