true lol.... once i finish up the little stuff u can come down and check it out

if I ever marry a rich girl I've decided I also want an early 750 w front and rear drums, chrome fenders, and stock air cleaner

Now thats what i call a rebuild! When is she hitting the free way.. :?: have you fitted the LANSDOWNE KIT yet...any problems if so? Regards John Lansdowne Eng

highdesert- it is a close fit on the brake line, but I can move it side to side about an inch and a half so should have a little vertical slack left... I'll double check it when I bleed it out.

john- yes, the dampers were easy to fit... no problems whatsoever... hoping to be done maybe in june...

my friend's neighbor has a welder so I'm going to convince him to make me an anti-backfire tool out of a thrust washer and an old socket...

Not much for updates right now....need to get off my lazy ass

Got my new seat from cnw today after the 4 or 5 month corbin build wait. It's cool because I'll be able to switch between seats in about 10 seconds

I'm going to cut the reflector panels off the old tail light fairing, and add them to the 75 box style tail light fairing. I'm suprised how much heavier and more heavy duty the older one is than the 75.

Anyone know where to get the chrome reflector housings?

Notice all the pollen? Makes me not want to go outside.
Other than that I need about $300 to finish everything up.

Now that it's nice out I've started working on it again. Not much progress though lol. Changed the fork bushings and reinstalled, welded a throttle cable, finally got the chain clip on, put the chainguard, rear pegs, and rear fender on.

Next up is a bunch of little stuff. I want to get these pieces powder coated, but will probably just end up spraying them because I'm broke.

skid plate I'm going to modify

New Commando owner

gonna cut this plate down and bend it around attached at airbox mount so I can attach my horn, xs650 valve, and whatever else

New Commando owner

have to notch this to make a battery strap buckle, having it offset an inch will allow the battery strap to be straight instead of the crooked mk3 style.

finally got these done today...battery strap buckle and overload backfire tool (24mm socket is a perfect fit for the thrust washer)

excellent ride there pelican. Hmmmm thought something was weird, post was from earlier this year. Thought maybe you bought another ride.

Pelican, did you get another seat mount bracket with your new, second Corbin seat? I'm after one to try to adapt to use as a bracket for my Wilcox seat. PM me if have one to sell.

By looking at your pics of the bracket mounted it may just work.

Gday Pelican,
nice build you've got happening there! Please excuse my ignorance, but, what is a "overload backfire tool"?
Foxy

Typically used to set the torque slip on the mk3 sprag for the starter. Welded thrust washer to socket to allow attachment to a torque wrench

Thanks for that Pelican, my project when finished wont have starter. If it backfires I'll probably need titanium parts installed in leg!

whoo, primary is buttoned up, and mechanical is all finished. Now I just have to finish making a bracket and wire it up.

Bought some smoked turn signal lenses, they are clear in the pic because of the flash, but actually grey in real life

Cut down the kickstart rubber and installed the new cover

Thought this was interesting, original tank strap, repro - the original is probably 3 times as heavy

I think your "original tank strap" is an OIF Triumph twin head steady bracket-which has been shortened and bent!

wow, cool. I never would have guessed as if fits perfectly. It's definitely a substantial chunk of metal.

Indeed, and I very much doubt it would ever have broken when used as a tank strap! But something must have convinced you to order a replacement?

oh, I noticed it looked a little different in the parts book. Similar, but different. The new one was really cheap so I figured I'd just order one and see.

Oh your good L.A.B. that's very impressive indeed! :D To know a part that has been modified like that and then have a picture of it. We are one lucky group here on this fourm, Thanks for your know how and knowledge.
