You mean the rear iso?I'm not familiar with those spindle caps or much of anything developed for Norton over the last 30 years. What's with the things sticking out of the center of them?
Yep, that's the plan. I had planned to weigh everything just out of curiosity, but got ahead of myself. I did weigh the engine and crankcase at about 93 lbsI take it that you are going to do the "lay the power train on it's side and thread the frame over it" style of reassembly?
I think he was referring to the rocker spindle caps on the head - they are a new one on me too.You mean the rear iso?

Don't forget there is a .125" spacer that sits on the inside of the engine/gearbox cradle on the top through bolt of the GB. I've seen many commando's with this installed on the outside which causes problems with the chain and inner primary. Nice build so far,
Yeah, i saw the gap and wondered ???? I referenced the parts diagram and sure enough, a spacer (installed below). Keen eyes will notice i drilled the drive side adjuster hole in the wrong position. Luckily i found that out before i got everything all assembled.Don't forget there is a .125" spacer that sits on the inside of the engine/gearbox cradle on the top through bolt of the GB. Now why didn't they just make the GB a little wider?
Thanks I forgot the word rocker when I asked about the spindle caps (covers). Excuse the confusion.RGM
They are supposed to lock the spindles in place better than the stock tabs.
True. But if there was no spacer to remove, you’d have to prize the cradle apart a lot more to get the required wriggle room.Easy, but not easy enough that you can remove it without having to disconnect the cradle from the engine
A bit late now, but there is a mod that can be done to the cradle that gives clearance to remove the trans without disturbing the engine bolts. Mk 3's were built this way, and I think it was a standard menu item for CNW builds.Easy, but not easy enough that you can remove it without having to disconnect the cradle from the engine
