Hi guys, where can I source some mushroom tappets for an 850?
Since my mishap with the split case on my race bike, I have noticed a not so good fit up (geometry)on one of the exhaust valves and the tappet is eroding the edge of the valve stem. Looks like a slight offset of the guide in a previous life!
I was wondering if a valve stem trim, a lash cap added along with a mushroom tappet might gain me a better alignment
Regards Mike

Must do tedious trial/error fit or do the tedious math but if ya racing on 'shrooms they still can wear pretty significantly so buy two sets.

hows the rebuild going Mike? Be sorted for the Barry Sheene in October?
You missed a good arse kicking at the Hamilton Winter meet by the CB 350's...... man those things can go.

Hi John, hoping to be finished by the end of next week, is there one more round of the HMCC series?
Steve, doesn't answer my question, where do I get them?
Regards Mike

Mike,

I have them in stock. Not available on the website so just call the shop during hours or send me an email

I can put them in a padded envelope, so reasonable shipping $

Also, remember that these have to be installed before you put your rocker assembly together. They can not be installed afterwards

Thanks Matt will get onto it straight away. Head is completely apart anyway so no issues about assembly

Other source of mushroom tappet adjusters for others is RGM.

Just as far away from you but maybe easier for us in UK.

Hi Mike,
The alignment issue needs sorting properly! all the force on the valve edge is not good, [excssive side thrust] and possible valve damage . is it possible to fit solid bronze washers/spacers? if side alignment is the problem? Front /rear mis-alignment is not easy..i think this is a push rod shortening/lengthing exersize.
I fitted floating ball adjusters once, they are Ducati type, only problem is over reving can cause the ball that as a flat to jump around the socket, this holds the valve of it's seat!

Mushroom adjusters still apply the force in the same point ,

Last race in series in on Aug 24, give the Norton a pre summer shakedown, my 'new' $700 motor now has the old beemer in the 1m26-1m28 zone now
Adrian and I won't be there as off to Vietnam for a 3 week Honda trip.

Thanks John, enjoy the SEA Honda trip, is it with Mike Britten?
I guess $700 I spent on Maney cases will be well worth it then!!!
See you soon. Next Friday private track day at Taupo
Regards Mike
