mushroom tappets

Waldridge motors has mushroom tappets on sale. Was thinking of getting a set. Would I need to remove the rockers to install?

I think just the exhaust. There was a thread on this a year or so ago. It's not a big deal to remove the spindle. I think I showed how with some washers and correct bolt, same as big end crank bolt as I remember.

If all is right and well with the rocker spindle fit then yes it pretty straight forward to pull them out and drift back in but on Trixie's head it was a terror to get them out and back in even with heat heated so hard to handle with gloves, ugh. Peel's slipped in/out with normal level resistance. In Peels case I could twist them installed to line up the flats and spindle covers nipples but on Trixie I couldn't, even about tearing the end slots apart levering on them, so make good and sure they are going in aligned as may have to pull em out and start over if particularly tight.

Since the engine is now back in the bike and all the oil lines are plumbed up, I think I will take a pass on this idea.

htown, that's sounds like the most effective and practical path as there is undetectable advantage to the mushrooms unless pressing into crank jump rope rpms on more aggressive cams than Norton sold. Its a small bragging right for the amount it costs all around.
