Mounting legs on SS fenders.

What are the mounting legs on the later ss fenders made of? The ss is fairly magnetic, so the magnet test isn't working.

Are they cad plated steel?

Mine appear to be silver painted steel - '73 750

Not the stays - the legs of the fender that are riveted on and attach to the sliders.

Ok, that piece is usually called the 'bridge'.

I believe the original bridge was mild steel. But being a total tart, and as the original rivets were loose or missing, i replaced mine with a ss version
