Hi Friends
Wish to know wath are your top three motorcycle sounds
My top three are:

1: MV Agusta 3 cylinder, I remember the sound from this bike at Spa Francochamps when Ago, at the end of the first lap, was going down with the gears to take the hairpin and after going up the gears to take the "Raidillon", the Beethoven symphonle for bikes!

2: The Norton Manx with open megaphone

3: The BMW Rensport 500cc in a sidecar

Wath are are your favorites??

Cheers
Yves

Hi Eves

Try the MV raced at Donnington this year by Oversby a real harsh cackle

Any triple on the back straight at Snet with an open pipe

The one that started me off?

On the balcony of the Creg ne bar Hotel for evening practise on a hot sunny day listening to an aermachi going up & down the box miles away.
At the time I new next to nothing about them. Thirty years later I can still place myself on that balcony.

Hi Yves,

In the middle of a pack of Commandos on California Hwy 1 southbound toward Big Sur. The harmonic reverberations of several engines making a slow wow-wow sound like a squadron of WWII bombers in tight formation. Narvana

Regards,

It has to be a triple - I'm lucky enough to have a BSA Rocket 3 and one of the main reasons for riding it is the glorious sound it makes (I prefer the standard exhausts to the racing three into ones etc.) Can anyone explain why triples sound so good ?

Hmmm,

Honda 6

Triple on open pipe (or a ducati with 2-1 as TTF2)

Commando short stroke with 2-1

Put me down in favor of a triple. I had a T-160 with a three into one pipe that at WOT had the best sound. The problem was it threw push rods on a regular basis. I am currenly building a Triton T-150 triple in a feather bed frame. Hope to be making music next summer at Bonneville.

I love the sound of the Guzzi V8 MotoGP bike - too bad they rarely finished a race!

I also love the sound of a triple, whether its a BSA A75 or Triumph T150/160, Benelli Tornado Tre, Suzuki GT750 (Water Buffalo), Kawasaki H2, Speed Triple.

I've ridden in a pack of Speed Triples, some with the stock exhaust, some with TORS (Triumph Off-road Silencers), Arrows, Mivv, Zard. Instead of the low rumble of a flight of bombers Illf8ed referred to, these are more like a squadron of P-51s.

The most Nortons I've ridden with is a pack of 4. I've ridden in a group of 8 S3s :D

Actually, the only motorcycle sound that doesn't do a thing for me is the potato-potato sound of a certain class of V-twins. Anything else sounds great when in proper tune - thumper, vertical twin, boxer twin, transverse V, L-twin, Triples, V-4s, I-4s, square 4s, boxer 4s, V-5, V-6, I-6, Boxer 6, V-8 - did I miss anything? :)

1. Triumph Tridents on the pipe

2. Norton 850 with Norton pencil-point peashooters

3. Honda 550 Four with Kerker header, no muffler

Best sound is the one you hear just behind you.

1. My Commando Mark III with nearly straight through Italian reverse cones. The Harley guys flip out when I fly by them.

2. The MV triple, watched Agostini at Modena on one.

3. My TD-3 (Yamaha 250 GP racebike, in my pic) when jetted right.
