We just got the new transmission parts back from heat treat. Lots of reengineering in these parts. High tensile alloy

modified addendums. AGMA class 11 gear tooth profiles. Will update after testing

Bushings are not installed yet. We are making special aluminum bronze bushings for high side load capability than standard iolite.

Hi John

Are they "Mk 3 " spec?

As in, the later ratios, and double circlip sleeve gear with full length bushes?

Thanks,
Lyell

what steel are you using in the shaft's? in the diesel trans world it is a 300M. the main shaft is very prone to break at the clutch locating circlip groove and as you well know it can be to hard.

thanks Bill for putting up the comparison , would like to know what the shafts and gears are made from?

Lyell,

FWIW, before I switched from a 20 tooth front sprocket to a 21 tooth I rebuilt my gearbox. I swapped out the later 2nd gear gearset to the earlier set. I found the earlier set to be a better combination for drivability. I switched them out for two reasons,
1) My original set was looking a little beat up and I had a good earlier set laying around,
2) I was thinking the earlier set would offset the bigger front sprocket and give be better acceleration
I really like this setup and doubt I would go back to the original.
Pete
