Model year differences

Hi Cliffa , I would like you to take some measurements of the port ID if you have the head off. If you have the valves out even better. I will attach a drawing so you can see where the measurements need to be made. I hope you have snap gauges to measure the intake and exhaust port ID’s at 4 or 5 places along the port tract. Let’s compare yours to the MCT heads.
Hi Tony, I'd be happy to help of course, but unless I find anything wrong with the head I won't be taking the valves out, and unfortunately don't have a snap guage. (I may be able to borrow one though). I'm 99% sure mine is an MCT engine as well though.

OK thats fine . Take as many readings as you can , note that the real differences are at the valve guide to the bowl :

The MCT head will also have the fins bridged in the casting like this :

Hi Tony, I haven’t forgotten. As soon as I get some space on the workbench I’ll get them for you. It’s definitely an MCT engine, so they are probably the same.

If you can also verify what type of neutral switch you have on your engine . In the MCT engine here it is larger in diameter and with 2 connections on the end. My 2014 neutral switch is both smaller in diameter and single post. Also in a slightly different position than my 2014. I can send a pic if you want.

Hi Tony, yes I’m familiar with that. The early bikes with the direct gear lever have a different selector drum, so the neutral switch is in a different position. When I changed to the later style lever and linkage I also had to put a later drum in as well, which meant the switch was now in the wrong place. Luckily my case was drilled for the later switch and plugged, so I got a later switch from Ollie and it worked fine. I left the original (Harley style) switch in place as a bung.

Is there a second drilling and plug on yours?
