Guys, I don't want to use a dash/console on my MKIII. Can I use the older style key switch from MKII models? I'm using an older style battery tray and something tells me the older key switch mounts off the battery tray somehow. I assume I can do this just buying OEM parts.

Any reason why this won't work?

Not unless you were to fit the earlier airbox assembly, as the switch bracket was an integral part of the metal airbox backplate. The switch bracket of the IA/IIA models also had the bracket riveted to the plastic airbox. However I believe there are some aftermarket brackets available that fit onto the battery carrier.

I just realized that fact. Mounts to air cleaner box.

Do you have a link to any sellers of the bracket? I need a solution asap or I may have to fab something up and mount it off the battery tray or something.

I'm wondering what owners of MKII models do when they switch to a single Mikuni. Where does the key switch get mounted?

Thanks L.A.B.

Is that custom mount pictured in the link you provided the Norvil one? There is no pic on the Norvil site. This gives me food for thought and I may have to fab something. I'm not using the stock key switch either but am using a switch with a barrel key.

I switched gears at the last minute and am not using the CNW dash kit I bought. I'm using no warning lights or centre console so I have to come up with something asap as I want to start wiring this thing soon.

No, I don't think so. I think the Norvil one is just a short angle braket with a hole for the switch one end and a couple of mounting holes at the other?

It should be easy enough to make one?

That's what I'm thinking. I have access to 3 lasers next door here at work so getting a nifty bracket laser cut would cost me nothing. I'll take a gander at my battery tray and figure something out. Even if I fab up some nasty looking backet it will do until I can make a better one.
