Hi all,

I got to the stage in my rebuild where I bolted on the left foot peg and it is severely bent. Shame as I had it chromed. Anyway quick question: Is the Mk3 L/H footpeg the same as earlier ones?

Cheers-Jerry

I don't think so because the older ones carried a brake pedal. I'll check my parts books

Confirmed they are different. Maybe you can straighten it without damaging the chrome?

Jerry is it bent upward?? I went and purchased a new one for my Mk III because it was bent upward. When the brand new came it was the same, I think they are made with this as the right side is also the same just not as much??? Be careful heating and bending your new chrome job as it may crack.

STOP ! Do not do any silly bending back on that MK 111 footpeg. They come that way ! Pre-bent.

Actually the peg is straight. The tapered socket it goes into on the arm is canted upward.

Its ok. One of the good things about California is there are loads of good plating companies:

I am gradually getting there:

Yea that's a bit of a different type of bend than I was talking about. Looks like you are coming along very well, Going to be done in time for the rally??

Ok I am off to chromers- luckily only 15 mins away. Foot rest arm will be as good as new after. I used map gas and a long lever to bend it back into shape:

Who do you use for Chroming around here Jerry?? I was using a friend in Santa Ana but he was a knightmere last time & won't go there again... Glenn.

Hi Glen- I use Orange County Plating. They have a powder coating place next door too. I am very happy with them, but a bit pricey. To get the foot lever from the image above re-chromed and to powder coat the rear light and registration brackets and one other bracket was $100.

cheers
