Ah, but you can. With a bit of finessing . You will notice that there is no difference in any of the gearbox main bodies. Besides ratios, that you have to be mindful of, the drives can be taken out and reversed. A little judicious work with a Dremel can accomplish cutting the crimps and once it comes apart just reverse and epoxy (JB Weld) it back together and you're good to go. My currant MK3 speedo gearbox is made up of 3 scrap ones and works a treat. Clean the whole thing up before reassembling and grease it now and then and you've saved s bunch. A good supply of bad gearboxes is a plus and you may have to do a bit of riveting too but really a fairly simple item to understand once you get into it.
Been doing that for years as MK3 speedos were hard to come by but I always managed to open up the tangs and reverse the drive and looked like a MK3 and works just fine easy to do same shit different approach . But you do need a bourbon to give your fingers some strength.
Hi, long time but here we are , which part of the speedo need to be reversed : the small one at the bottom or the large "crown" on the ouside ??
as I have two NOS mk3 speedo gearboxes and NO mk3 that could help my bikes, or is there someone who to make a trade (exchange) for the same but for previous Commando.......!
