NORMAL BUSINESS HOURS
WE ARE OPEN
9.00am-5.30pm MONDAY TO FRIDAY
9.00am-12.00noon SATURDAYS
(BY PRIOR APPOINTMENT)

If you pulled that from the catalog it's from 2005. I wanted to make sure they hadn't pulled back on their hours since then.

Dave,
You shouldn't have any problems understanding Angela, even though you are but a colonial- give her a ring and my compliments. Even I, a Kraut, have no difficulties.

I don't think there's been any change to the opening hours. Just be aware we do not put our clocks forward as early as the US-so UK time is still at GMT-until 27 March.

Yeah, I may have lucked out with that.

Looks like 9am PST = 4pm GMT (for now), I might give them a jingle this week.

Hehe, back in 1971, 40 yr ago we did not have many BI bike shops nor internet so phone calls or letters were only way to contact parts and advice sources. I gave up on hearing Mick speak the mother tongue.

Believe it or not I tried calling this morning. Complete failure. I think my cell phone doesn't support international calls.

So I called from work and got a busy signal (I was just testing the line) so it would be 10pm over there. Do they take their phone off the hook after hours? I suppose it would be too much to ask if they have an answering machine...

This is the number I tried:

011 44 01604 638505

That looks right, doesn't it?

[Edit] Yes, cell phone number I gave is wrong! As that's for dialling to a cell phone. Try cell phone without the zero?

Dave, I am pretty sure what you have to dial is 011 44 1604 638505. But you might have to check with your long distance carrier, just call them, they'll tell you. Don't use your cell, it's real expensive and most likely won't work. Let me put in a plug for Enhanced Communications Group (ECG). When I switched from AT$T to ECG, my long distance charges for not using it went from $20 to $2. Their overseas (UK) charges are about .30/min. Interstate US is about $.025, and intra state (in your own state) is about $.089/min. My usual long distance phone bills are now about $2-5 per month instead of $20-50. I can hardly believe it. It hasn't made any difference in the quality of service and the dialing is just like any regular long distance call.

I had a young buck that stayed with us for a week and he put about 3 hours on the phone to ND, Cuba whatever. Total bill was $5.

My calls to Mick have been on the order of a few bucks at most.

I have no affiliation with this group, I just subscribe to it and it works for me. You have to agree to using a credit card for direct payment and email as invoice.

Once in a while competition works.

I think skype is just about the same price as egc and egc you use your regular phone. But you can buy minutes, don't know the min.

A Skype call (computer to phone) is 1.6 pence per min (inc. tax) to phone USA from UK (calling Alaska is 3.5p) Skype to Skype is free anywhere.

I wouldn't say it's free. Seems to me there is a minimum monthly charge or something like that. Never looked into it much so I really can't say. I'm sure you can't subscribe free and have free calls computer to computer, but then I have been wrong before. They have to make money somehow or everyone would be calling computer to computer and no one would be paying anything?? I did see a news video feed on skype the other day from Lybia and it was horrible. Audio was ok.

I guess I should just shut up or find out the facts.

Edit: Just looked it up. You have to subscribe for $14/mo. to call overseas, free or not. I don't call that free. ECG costs me $2/month if I don't make any calls and if I call Mick for 5 minutes it cost me a total of $3.50. Of course there are some taxes on it, but it doesn't add up to $14. I've never paid more that maybe $6/month with egc, but then I really don't make many long distance calls. I'm really not pushing this egc, I just find it incredibly cheap, like me.

I suppose if you really make a lot of overseas calls computer to computer it works out. I just like using the 'thing in my hand'.

You do have to buy a small amount of Skype phone credit, that's it, and that credit can remain unused for months or even years as long as you make at least one call to a land line phone lasting about 1 second every 6 months to keep the account active.

Looks like you can buy a small amount as a one time transaction that would make it worth while. Better than paying AT$T the big bucks.
