Hi all

OK we are back in again in 2013 at the Manx GP (now to be known as the Classic TT ) with the formula classic race . (just)

Regs are as they were last year in regards to bikes (pre Dec 31st 1974 up to 850cc .. the reason for up to 850cc is just so there are no arguments or disputes in regard to over bores and all that ) ...

The good news is it will be an FIM sanctioned event so overseas race licences can now be used (unlike recent years where an ACU or European licence was mandatory)

So the challenge …

We need more starters to maintain this class moving forward. If we don’t have the numbers I have no doubt that we will lose it as a class at the Island forever.

Richard Darby and I committed to the organisers we would rally the troops in all brands capable of competing in this event in promoting the event and increasing the grid size.

So any individual, team or consortium planning to , wanting to or just thinking about the possibility of entering then please contact Richard Darby or myself Steve at the email addresses below.

We are both most happy to provide advice as to what’s needed to put a machine together capable of competing , put you in touch with a rider if needed or anything else you want to ask or know about the Manx (classic TT ) .

My email address is Snibor@iinet.net.au

Richards email is 3dmotorcycles@gmail.com

So now’s the chance to get a commando out there ... would be great to see the Triumph/BSA/Norton battles hit the mountain again .. I look forward to getting some email or replies .. :)

Hmmmm a bit surprised at the lack of feedback? The Classic TT is a fantastic opportunity to showcase old iron. Where are all the chest thumping, my ball sack is made of chrome molly and my nuts are titanium big noises?

My reason for not going are:

Look at a map, Omaruru to the Ilse of Mann is a killer, as would be putting a bike on a plane.

I'm too long in the tooth and large in the butt and I have no license.....

o an I have shot my wad on the rebuild so no cash to mount a campaign....

Come on boys! crank it up!

Hi Chris

yes i am too a bit surprised ... A commando on the mountain course is a very competitive beast and not been one out there racing for a long time ..

understand your costs ... I shipped two bikes from Brisbane in 2011 to the IOM to compete at the Manx ... i just leave them in the UK now and run them at the Pre TT Classic, the manx GP and will have a few runs in the CRMC events this year ..

now once there in the UK the cost is not as bad as you may think .... there are no entry fees this year for the Classic TT (ex manx GP) .. in previous years it was £500 a race ...

TT Riders are always keen to ride classics at the Classic TT as they are not allowed to ride modern stuff ... Mark Parrett rode for me the past two years & Chris McGahan ode one last year for me ...

anyways ... would still love to see a commando or 3 on the Grid ... that would be cool ...

maybe catch up when i am in town next ... I'm working and Living in Manila at the moment ... tough life but some has to do it :)

Cheers

How much can you tell us about what is going on over there? I realize this might not be the place for this discussion but this topic needed bumped back to the top anyway.

Take care,
Russ
