Let’s play eye spy

I read that somebody dropped one of the demo bikes hence the shortage. It’s a great sign that there is so much interest though.Your feedback will be very valuable Stu, as you have ridden more 961’s than anybody else on here I guess.

Couldn’t you use you status in the NOC as 961 technical officer to jump the queue?;)
Lol doubt that carries enough weight to get me much 😂

I’d just tell them the truth, that you have people asking you that very question. They let brainless YouTube hacks who couldn’t even spell Norton ride them, so why on Earth not you ?!

Agreed Stu - briefly explain your background, experience, influence/input to various forum and genuine intent to advise prospective buyers. If they back their product, why wouldn’t they provide you with a test ride.

He’s a Donnington bike owner who test road one of the TVS demo bikes for about 30 miles. He‘s done 13k miles on his own so can make a good comparison. He said the primary clatter is very much reduced on the new bike which is good news, as I’m sure that must have put off a lot of people from buying.
This is why I was hoping that the NEW 961 had the quieter OEM original exhaust.
Any engine clatter would be immediately apparent.
Maybe this is why the louder shorties were made standard on the NEW 961.

I can’t say for sure, but I think the new shorties are quieter than the old ones going by the videos.

The only reason I was curious about the use of the shorties is because listening to the videos of the NEW 961 the exhaust was significantly louder than I remember the long OEM silencers on my CR.
When I first heard the 961 exhaust at the dealer I was really disappointed how pathetic and quiet the pipes were.
Sounded like a squirrel farting in a tin can.
These NEW shorties seem to have a lot more volume.

It doesn’t matter what exhaust TVS used. You can never get the true sound of “ANY” exhaust on a sound clip or video accurately.

Not to mention, too many variables. Sound from the surrounding area, the Mic, the camera, the bike or car itself.

Very true, which is why Stu’s feedback would be so valuable.

Doesn't the UK have exhaust noise regulations? I thought this was well below the 95db they allow here in California

Single vehicle approval is pretty relaxed when compared to homologation. 99db at half max revs would be the limit for a 961.
