Let’s play eye spy

@Stephen_Spencer is actually going to become the Australian Dealer - he has a test planned where he actually cleans the bike until it fails……
Clean until failure is infinitely preferable to a failure to clean! I noticed brake dust on my front calliper the other day and nearly had a heart attack!! Which is ironic, cos I was administering CPR to an elderly neighbour at the time!

The calliper’s clean and healthy again. The neighbour, not so much - the funerals next week:oops:!

So you stopped the CPR to clean your brake calliper after spotting the dust? Might need to discuss this at your next OCD help-group meeting. I suppose at least they can guarantee regular attendance from the members......

I am in the UK and was told they hadn't planned to sell complete engine/box units. So not a no but vibe I'm getting is they won't.
Well, if ever they are willing, put one in this frame:

A few other changes:

Oil cooler: mounts, thickness, cooler itself. Lower mount not visible in this photo

Brand is "Alexon"; website is here: https://www.radicon.co.th/

New baby bottle mount:

No "joiner" in the oil line:

Pipe color (this is a test ride bike) seems significantly more consistent than most bikes I've seen?

I think the joiner is the anti-return valve in the return line on older bikes. FE's bike had no joiner so this fix was in by 2018 .

I'm guessing that the fix was inside the oil pump housing itself.
If the pump is a better spec unit, and eliminates the external check valve, and fits Donnington motors, I may be interested in procuring one.
Norton could have made the welds on the oil cooler mount more attractive.
After all, the cooler is out where everyone can see it.

If not, he must be brow beaten on Facebook until he joins.:p
That way we can learn the positives and negatives of the NEW 961.

He should sacrifice his new bike to be stripped and examined for the benefit of others!!
Welllllllllll!
Maybe we're going a bit too far here.
It should be enough if he places himself at our constant beck and call for questions about his 961.

Were there issues with the original oil cooler and mountings? I don’t remember any

On some of the 961's the lower part of the oil coolers contacted the front fender under very hard braking.
The new mount holds the lower part of the cooler closer to the frame to avoid contact with the fender.

He’s a Donnington bike owner who test road one of the TVS demo bikes for about 30 miles. He‘s done 13k miles on his own so can make a good comparison. He said the primary clatter is very much reduced on the new bike which is good news, as I’m sure that must have put off a lot of people from buying.

This is why I wanted to grab a road test, so I could compare against 961's in general, as apposed to comparing it to one bike. I've got 11 bikes in right now, and can pretty much guarantee that each one is a little different to the next. I managed to book a road test last Friday afternoon, for the 3rd November.... but I received an email Saturday afternoon, basically saying no bikes available, dont call us, we'll call you. Kinda expected it tbh.

@Stu Bodycote are you saying that because it’s you or just in general?

Indeed.
It was a big contributory factor in me selling mine too.
If they’ve sorted that, it’s good news.

I read that somebody dropped one of the demo bikes hence the shortage. It’s a great sign that there is so much interest though.Your feedback will be very valuable Stu, as you have ridden more 961’s than anybody else on here I guess.

Couldn’t you use you status in the NOC as 961 technical officer to jump the queue?;)

Me I reckon....ex-employee with obviously no intent to buy. But, I've had three of my own customers ask my opinon on the new bikes, and as to whether or not they should add one to their stable (some collectors currently have multiple Donington 961's)....and I just dont have the answers.
That aside, I was sincerely really looking forward to riding one, and having a look at the new shed.
