Thanks for the info on the rocker shaft removal. When you say:

But you could make one easily enough using a 5/16" - 26 tpi threaded rod, nuts and a weight?

Is it 26 tpi or is it BSF which is 22 tpi. I can't find reference to a thread that is 26 tpi.
 
5/16" 24 tpi is as close as you're going to get from your local hardware store. However, it will work, with a little persuasion.

I've changed the seals many times without removing the head or had a single failure. Got to admit I've never used the compressed air method or liked the idea, always used a hook.
I'll sort out some pix of the home made kit I use.

All you really need is the shaft puller, the hook, the modified box spanner, a lever, tweezers and a mate. The other bits are to help do it alone or with the steady box-section removed.
